@Dave24 you can make a power move. You can use this situation to change to dish or another position you're interested in.

You might piss your boss off. You can't have reward without risk. Whatever you do make sure you present it as a question and not a demand. May I speak to you sounds better than you and I need to talk.

I feel he should have paid minimum wage all along since I didn't even get any tips nor was the tip policy explained to me at all by the manager. I feel like I was left in the dark.

Because of that I don't really want to work there anymore because I can't trust my manager. Do you see where I'm coming from?

Agreed though I would def. say "May I speak to you' or "There is something I need to discuss with you when you have the time. "

Should I go to work tomorrow and tell him I don't want to work there anymore or just not show up at all tomorrow?

In terms of what I want to do with my life it is still hazy. I feel that because of how prevalent IT is getting and jobs being automated in the future has left me depressed. I feel that I might have to get into IT.

You can't survive on the shytty wages and you are going to end up being more depressed by doing it. The best you can do is to leave it and look for something better.

IT is the easiest field to get into. With one certification - doors will open for you.

Yeah I plan to leave, but I'm saying should I work tomorrow and tell him I'm leaving after my shift is over tomorrow?

@Dave24 sounds like some shady shyt. But if you're going to quit anyway there's no reason to not make that power move. You have nothing to lose my G.

You're in a powerful position. Use it, wasting an opportunity to expand your resume, make more money, and exercise making moves isn't jiggy.

Sell bridges don't burn them. Yeah, there's not a lot of money up, but you could triple your pay rate from making a move. That's all I'm seeing. Dish is all about having a system. That shyt is light work, stay ahead of the dishes and that's easy money, free food, and a resume filler. Did I mention you tripling your pay rate?

All this can be gained from having a conversation with your employer. If you're going to quit anyway, take your shot.

he already has the dishwasher position filled with other people. The dishwasher makes minimum wage where I work.

Free food, we have to pay for food and it isn't free for us.

Resume filler what future jobs could I get from being a dishwasher?

Sounds like slavery man, cut all ties ASAP. Dish washers get promoted to prep cooks, buyers, waiters, etc. From the dish pit you learn a bit of every job in the kitchen. If it isn't for you I get it man. You have to like your job or see value in it.

Look you only been there two weeks

There have been servers getting shafted for MONTHS if you watch the show bar rescue and they out in the middle of nowhere just like you

Welcome to the working world where you got to stand up for yourself. Don't quit yet, you can't afford to because you got zero life experience and you gonna have to take what is thrown at you for now.

Can your momma front you gas money and does this restaurant let you eat for free?

Approach your manager and just say "Hey I'm assuming busboys get a portion of the tip pool do you know when that is coming through?"

If he looks at you like you got two heads then just wait for him to respond and don't say a word. See what excuse he comes up with.

If he fukks around I advise you to KEEP working this job at a loss because you NEED some type of professional experience.

You can't just quit because the next job will want to see you bring something to the table.

I know this sucks but you have no choice. You can file a wage claim later make sure to save any pay stubs and contact your local org they should have this post-it required by the fed in every employer in plain sight there should be a local GA state number you can call to report wage theft.

Get the back wages AFTER you leave not BEFORE because they are gonna wanna fire you. In the meanwhile get that professional experience think about how you are gonna hype this shyt up in your next interview.

You gotta last this one at least 6 months before you segue onto the new gig think about problem scenarios and problem solving all employers want to see that demonstrated.

Right now you are on the lowest level of the plantation but you got to start SOMEWHERE before you can free yourself of slavery.

Regarding me quitting my mother wants me to. I talked it over with her and she was angry that I wasn't paid at least minimum wage. She wants me to work anywhere as long as they pay at least minimum wage (K-Mart, Wal Mart, Fast food, other restuarants etc) Does that make sense?

The restaurant doesn't let people eat for free.

My mother feels that I should be paid more than 2.89 an hour.

Your moms need to recognize that it's better to fund your ass getting work experience than fund your ass sitting on the couch

When I was broke and first graduated could not find a job she paid for me to be able to go to networking events in the city and take BS jobs to get my experience up and now 7 years later I make $100k+

So tell yo momma I said that.

What makes you think I won't be looking for another job and just sitting on my ass?

If I get a job at Home Depot or Wal-Mart and get my experience up from a job like that it would be a bad idea?

Home Depot and Walmart want prior customer service experience.

Try applying after only 2 weeks on this job vs. 6 months on that job. Another thing is you can negotiate higher salary if you coming to the table with at least some retail type customer service experience.

If you apply with no experience or only claim 2 weeks here they might not hire you period. Everyone thinks they can get a job just because it's a dumb job but they got applicants 10 years younger than you that are more physically in shape that you got to compete with.

A 16 year old kid applying to work part-time will probably beat you out unless you bringing some experience to the table. So you better humble yourself cause I had to do the same. But not really cause there was a lot of fellow college grads my age in 08-09 applying for Home Depot at the time due to the recession.

In fact about 50% of us was 21 or older with a damn degree. But now the economy better you gonna be competing with younger kids or Mexicanos. So you gonna have to bring more experience to the table to compete.

so If I stick with the restaurant for 6 months what could be the next job I could get from there?

I dont know your history but if anxiety and stress is a factor in your life try meditating and practicing mindfulness.

Just a short ten minute meditation session, guided or not, can really improve your breathing which in turn helps the mind and body relax.

is he paying you in cash?

dont quit, just confront your manager and keep working so you build work ethic

and you need to confront your manager, being a bytch is why you are where you are in life.

He hands out everyone that works there a check.

I guess I may stick around but how am I supposed to convince my mom? She was telling me that being paid 2.89 an hour is not right and if I work somewhere like McDonalds at least I will be getting minimum wage.

Regarding confronting my manager I don't like confrontations with people especially people that are more powerful than me in an economic/social sense because if I confront people what if they get mad at me and want to get back at me? I am paranoid about stuff like that.
