Working class of TLR lets talk about cover letters for a second

just got a severance letter from my job on Friday and I'm bout to get laid off

good news is there's an opening that I been eyeing very hard, I've never had a prob with applications and landing interviews but I'm extremely interested in this one and I feel a cover letter would significantly increase my chances

any tips or advice on cover letters? what should be included? how are they different from resumes? should i even include one or will it make me look like a beta?

cover letters are like a quick sales pitch for yourself tailor made for that specific job, so only highlight the strengths that would pertain to that position.

you showcase your skills in a bulleted list, "I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss this position with you. If you have questions or would like to schedule an interview, please contact me by... " but formed like a letter with the sincerely at the end.

Not to cluttered because you'll have all the details on your resume.
