We see Haiti, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Spain, Iraq, Chile, and even the UK engaging anti-government corruption protests now. It's going on mainly, seemingly only happening in Westernized countries. Is democracy reaching its last leg? Could this be the start of a new wave of social democracy or democratic socialism movements and governments? Or this is just the self-correction of democracy and the people finally exercising their rights?

** Hong Kong is really against Communist China.
*** France's protests should be added but they were pretty brief.
****Spain, Iraq, Chile added

I haven't seen anything about that on the social medias. I wonder what their specific grievances.
Mostly similar, high unemployment, government corruption. The government cracked down hard on them quickly though and also shut down internet (at least in the beginning) to make it harder for the protesters to organize, so maybe thats why there wasnt as much awareness

Spain too

Western media won't cover it, check out al Jazeera
Yh true but thats about the catalonian indepence movement I think
