Studies show that birth rates are highest among developing countries...I feel the smart phone is going to assist in revolutionizing Africa. Access to information is powerful and once everyone in Africa gets their hands on a smart phone it will further speed up the development of the continent.

Once nations in Africa become fully developed birth-rates will go down - due to economic controls (identical to that of rich nations).

Of course, I have an optimist' point of view.

Agreed. You sort of have to take these types of projections with a grain of salt because humanity is consistently bad when it comes to predicting the future. People thought we'd have flying cars and huge advances in space travel by now (which didn't happen) but few predicted that normal people would be walking around with tiny computers that are orders of magnitude more powerful than supercomputers were 30 or 40 years ago.

The population might increase that much, but it might not. It's like you said, it depends on how much economic development there is in Africa. Birth rates ALWAYS go down as the economy grows because kids are expensive, people spend more time in school, and there's less incentive to have them in general.
