

That’s actually an interesting question.That's counterintuitive. because it's far cheaper to maintain rail once it's been put down than it is to maintain roads.
So it's cheaper to get the process set up but it's going to cost a lot more in the long term. Just wait until all the potholes start appearing or the road warps under the weight.

Would it actually cost more to maintain that road? Particularly since you’d expect less wear and tear because the only vehicles on it would be trams. Not several million cars per year.
