No smart person believes a whole race of people act a certain way because of tv and even if they do, hows that any different than black people screaming every white person is a racist or lame?
Your argument is stupid. If in 2013 whites have limited access to blacks and it was far less way back in slavery times, exactly how could most whites know of slavery or much less own slaves? Or care enough about it to put an end to it?this isn't about smart or dumb.
it's about people who have limited interaction with Black people, CONSTANTLY seeing them depicted in the media in an unfavorable way, coupled with stereotypes about Black people that have existed for more than 100 years here in America.
How do you think slavery existed in this country for 400 years? it existed because all the other White people went along with it and believed that Black people were subhuman and inferior, 3/5ths etc etc.
btw, there were far less Black people in America at that time which means that the majority of white Americans then had limited first hand contact with Black people during that time.
Whenever a Black man, child or woman was snatched off the street and publicly burned and hanged, the white people present who had limited interaction with Black people naturally assumed that, that's what those Blacks deserved.
note the smiles and excellent wardrobes worn by these White Americans looking upon the inferior Blacks, and ask yourself how those White people knew that Blacks were inferior and subhuman.

white people knew exactly what slavery was and who was doing the slaving.
what I'm saying is, White people weren't out interacting with Black people and getting to know them while they were enslaved to know whether they were subhuman or not.
