i guess jealousy was a poor word to use. they way the situation looked to me was that jay was butthurt cuz cam was essentially given the position (if he wanted it) without any input from jay.

Knowing how much Cam lies and exaggerates I think the real story is that when Jay heard about it he checked Dame on it and Dame had to go back and tell Cam "I'm sorry I can't give you the job after all"....

people say that.. But the Roc's worth wouldnt have been shyt. Def Jam wasnt gonna deal with Dame Dash without Jay Z. (yall all saw the footage from the meetings) He did the right thing by accepting the money on the buyout... trust me.

Def Jam would have put them out the building like they did Murder Inc.

Could you explain why you think that? I mean I always figured he kept it out of spite as much as anything. But having the Rocafella name versus perpetual revenue for owning the RD masters is equal in my eyes. Why the name rocafella was a strong brand what made or broke that band was the people on the roster.

Anyhow IMO opinion the biggest mistake was dissolving the label. When he agreed to do that he had kanye, can, dipset, and state property on the label. In hindsight that was a stacked label. Yeah jay was a "retiring superstar" but their was no reason to scrap the team. Now look kanye is just as big if not bigger than Jay and Same didn't see any of that money due to dissolving the label.
