Who said he wouldn't be a top player vs. bigs now?

All I said is I doubt Hakeem would be considered top 5 right now. He got KD, Steph, Bron, Harden, Giannis, Embiid, etc to compete with, and I know good and well if you removed nostalgia and dropped him in today's game nobody's taking him over Steph, KD, Giannis and Bron.
You never address how two players who are only elite on one end of the floor are better than a player whos elite on both.

Damn, breh...:picard:
that's what it is. i explained succinctly about curry and then dudes will still ignore facts. olajuwon can simply dominate a game to a much greater degree. ALL of curry's 'domination' depends on the rules, the era, and having the right people around him. you can't be better than someone if you have to have 95 things to help you. it's like if i ask who's a better fighter, spiderman or batman. obviously spiderman will whoop batman's ass in any fight, but no one will say spiderman is 'better' at fighting. no one will say he is more skilled or is a greater pure fighter than batman. he has outside things that give him advantages and make him a better combatant than he really is skillwise. curry can put up spectacular numbers, but you have to look at those in context to see who really is the better player.

Anybody who thinks Curry is anywhere near Dream's league doesn't know a damn thing about basketball. I was just laughing at the way you spit those bolded lines out.

1. Bolded is an opinion based moreso on legacy and what you did in your era.

2. Giannis right now is a better player than Hakeem was in the 80s. Same with Embiid. They don't have his legacy yet, but they mos def better than those incarnations of Hakeem.
How Sway?

Giannis hasn’t even gotten out of the first round yet after 5 years. Embiid underperformed against a star-less Celtics squad

Dream was a player in the mid to late 80’s that was giving you 21-25 ppg, leading the league in rebounds while being “undersized”, and recording over 200+ blocks and 100+ steals as a center. He and Ralph Sampson legitimately went through a superteam to make it to the Finals

Now if Giannis or Embiid dominate and lead their team to the Finals I’ll say they’re better than Akeem. Cuz Hakeem was able to get back there with a completely different coach and cast and win it all, back to back.

Giannis was drafted at 19 and Hakeem was drafted at 22 and he's definitely getting out of the first round this year barring injury. The year the Rockets went to the finals they were the second seed team in the west with 51 wins :francis:

Embiid will prolly never lead the league in rebounds or get any of those counting stats because of health and minutes. He's way bigger than Hakeem and plays in a quicker/more explosive era. :yeshrug:

Prime 94-95 Dream would 100% be the best player on the earth if you magically transported him into the league as it is now in 2019, and I don't think there'd much of a discussion about it. Now if you took Hakeem in one of his lesser years, or you took him in his prime but dropped him in 2016's NBA as opposed to today's that's a different story. Some of y'all are seriously underrating his all-time greatness in this thread tho; his unparalleled finesse and skill on both ends of the court (top 10 all-time in blocks AND steals) would translate to today's game better than arguably any other all-time big man's.

Stephen Curry twice led the league in scoring efficiency as a guard and is more efficient than Hakeem on offense.

In terms of scoring efficient Curry is up there with Shaq and Charles Barkley his peak. Hakeem is with Kobe.

So on offense, Curry is the far superior player. On Defense, Hakeem blows Curry out the water because Curry is a guard and guards don't have any defensive value compared to a big, especially a big like Hakeem.

Curry scoring efficiency and volume as a point guard is special and once in a generation.

It's not ridiculous to prefer to Curry in this era of up and down 3 point shooting basketball. Hakeem played in a slow and scrappy era with isolation big man scoring being common.

Hakeem would eat and eat well....the best center in the game.

Big men today don't really know how to play like big men. 'Keem could switch up styles on every possession, back to the basket making great passes out of the post, facing up and hitting mid range jumpers.

Defense would be the big advantage. He dominated against Shaq/Robinson etc. Those guys could put 50 on you in a heartbeat. Post players today would be like playing Madden on rookie for someone like Hakeem.
