Pedro Martinez's snub forced the 28-inch-tall Nelson de la Rosa to spill to The New York Daily News.

"He broke my heart," de la Rosa told the Daily News. "That's not right what he said about me."

After signing with the Mets last week, Martinez described how he used the Dominican dwarf as a good-luck charm during Boston's World Series run, and he then added, "That was just a trick."

Martinez also called de la Rosa a "palm-sized pipsqueak"

Martinez and de la Rosa haven't spoken since the Red Sox victory parade. The two men met through a mutual friend, and de la Rosa became part of the Red Sox clubhouse. He went on the road for several games, including the Red Sox's American League Championship finale against the Yankees.

After games, de la Rosa celebrated with Martinez, who lifted the little man over his head. Now, de la Rosa tells The Daily News he might switch teams too.

"I'm not going to the Mets unless some other Dominican ballplayer makes me an offer," he said. "And if the Yankees call me, I'll go with them."

Meanwhile, the dwarf is spending spending baseball's off-season performing for "Amazing 2005," a Japanese television show, and greeting fans at the gas station where his sister-in-law works.

Although Martinez has left Boston for New York, de la Rosa remains a Boston idol.

"I'm the one and only," de la Rosa said. "I'm still Nelson, and that's from the heart."

No love for the little man

Mr. De La Rosa, a dwarf who was about 2 feet 4 inches, drew public attention when he appeared with Marlon Brando in the 1996 film “The Island of Dr. Moreau.”

He was listed by Guinness World Records as the shortest known adult in 1989.

Nelson De La Rosa, 38, Actor and Good-Luck Charm for Red Sox, Dies (Published 2006)

The midget died of a heart attack at 38 in Providence.

Let me ask you guys something. Could you run up on a cop like Zimmer did Pedro? It's an assault to place someone under a reasonable assumption you are going to attack them. You don't have to actually hit them. One of the reasons with cops all you have to do is make any movement they can reason as threatening. But this is the law, however, when you're black you can't be threatened, only threatening. What was Zimmer coming to do, shake his hand?

I forgot about this :laff::mjlol:

People were MAD at Pedro about this. Pedro was too great to be cancelled, though, especially in the New England area. In 2021, it'll be the same reaction as it was then.
