No, he wouldn't those stats are inflated because of the era...

1984-85 Pace: 102.2 possessions per game,
1984-85 Defensive Rating: 108 dRtg

2015-16 Pace: 95.8 possessions per game
2015-16 Defensive Rating: 106 dRtg

A rookie Jordan with a limited jumper would be zoned today and he would see better athletes and more sophisticated defenses in general. Also, rookie Jordan had the green light and was a seasoned rookie three years at North Carolina. Dudes like LeBron, KD, Kobe, Melo were 18 and 19 coming out.

What in the fuk are you talking about??? Limited Jumper?!!

The man dropped 63 on the NBA Champions, more than half of which...was jumpshots!

and that was only the season after his rookie year.

these fools have no idea what they're talking about. the majority of mj's fg's where J's and he consistently had an above 50% field goal percentage.

The Truth
HOW MUCH IS HE SCORING AGAINST KAWHI THEN
I like Kawhi but lets not compare 6 championship rings in a wilder era where you could hand check and MJ still cooked nikkas.

Jordan would've probably got in Kawhi's head too.. We know he would've got in Lebrons

Jordan was pretty advanced as a rookie..

What in the fukk are YOU talking about? :dahell:

I just watched his 63 and most of his jumpers were pull-ups within the FT line, 10-12 foot jumpers. You can count one one hand how many jumpers he hit from 15 feet out and he couldn't hit threes he was poor even for his era.

"Back then, the knock on Michael was that he couldn't shoot the ball, for a long time, that first season, he just drove the ball to the basket and he didn't need a shot. But Michael was so smart, he learned from taking some mighty licks. So he said, 'I gotta get a jump shot,' and he got one. But when we looked at him for the draft, he was 195 pounds and 6-6, so he was kind of thin. So the biggest thing about him was, can he make a shot? We wondered what kind of shooter he'd be."
-Rod Thorn on Michael Jordan's jumpshooting

So he was hot for a game...your point?

Not that I'm arguing one way or another but that's just a shytty defense. That's like using LeBron's 48 against the Pistons as evidence that he was a good shooter at that point in his career.

We are talking about rookie Jordan here to say he had game beyond 15 feet is disingenuous...

Back in the 80's shooting 50% wasn't difficult entire teams shot 50% for the season. The scoring kings like Jordan, King, Dantley put up 53%+ easy.

Not to mention in LeBron's 48 point game he hit extraordinarily difficult jump shots, off balance long twos through double teams, step backs deep in the wing, drifters off behind the back dribbles from the top of the key, three pointers.

Watch Jordan's 63, the longest shot he took was a wide open 18 footer off a pick. Jordan was shooting 10-12 ft. pull-ups from the semicircle, posting up and shooting into the key, and taking short leaning baseline jumpers.

No he wasn't. Stop talking about shyt you clearly don't know about.
These dudes be chatting.... :bryan:

Game footage and scouting reports from Jordan's rookie year all say he was a limited shooter. I wanna know which one of y'all nikkas is :flabbynsick: enough to remember how good Jordan's jumper was on a game to game basis 33 years ago. :mjlol:

Micheal Jordan has some inhuman stats

Like there's one where he has the highest fg% on mid range jumpers of all time by a large margin
Post this data they wasn't even keeping track of shooting numbers by spot on the floor until '96-'97...

Forget the stats for a minute.. I was watching some rookie MJ highlights..

Has anybody ever displayed this kind of skill as a rookie? Jesus! The move he put on Bernard king at 8:22 was :scust:
I cant believe MJ was this good coming out of college.

Would you put rookie MJ over Steph and Bron? Where would he rank?

not at all.. he wasn't the best player back in his rookie season either.

He wasn't but the dude was up there. 29 for a rookie, All-NBA second team, All-Star starter. No player mentioned in this thread did stuff like that, but to be the overall best as a rookie is impossible.

I probably speak for a lot of dudes on this board, in that MJ was literally my childhood, but no grown ass man should still be in this 'Jordan mythicization' indoctrinated state. It's nauseating that you can't have a genuine discussion when it comes to him anywhere on this planet, cause there's always gotta be some nikka that tries to be extra with it.

Kobe is in that state, and when it's all but done for LeBron, it will be even worse. He is in this generation, so it's fresh in people's minds. The East is so trash, that he might have 10 straight finals appearances before he reaches the age 35. People think the GOAT Jordan stories are bad, wait till James is finish. Grown ppl been calling this nikka king since HS.
