Would Sherman have shut down Rice?
no.
Let's not act like even great cornerbacks don't get torched from time to time when matched up with great receivers. I think Rice would have definitely gotten Richard Sherman a few times if they faced off in a game. Rice was going against prime Deion Rod Woodson Aeneas Williams Dale Carter etc. and people think he wouldn't have did the damn thing against Sherman.
I think people want to see more years of dominance before they compare Sherman to great wide receivers like Jerry Rice.
But COULD Sherman have shut down Rice for a game? Sure. Why not?
People have to understand that Jerry Rice didn't put up 120 yards receiving in every game of his career.

He had games in his prime where he was held under 50 yards.
Now if you're asking me....if there was 1 game and I had to bet my life whether Rice would get shut down by Sherman? I'd bet on Rice gaining the upper hand.
