JUST started reading the article and they said restaurant etc can pay up to $30,000 for licensing to sing Happy birthday. What a load of bullshyt. What kind of idiot would pay that kind of money to sing happy birthday to a customer in a restaurant? How would word ever get back to the head of publishing or whatever at Warner that some rinky dink cafe in butt fukk nowhere or in the middle of Queens is singing happy birthday. The licensing fees would come from tv shows or movies which is why you hardly ever hear it on shows, they make up their own version half the time.

THOSE type of hits can be parlayed into long lasting publishing or licensing deals to be in commercials, movies etc. but if the artist doesn’t have control over that side of their publishing then they get fukk all from it.
