What do you find most satisfying?

Nothing most satisfying it’s just who I am I will always run the household even if my wife makes more than me eventually all she needs to do is work and chill out and help out when I tell her too
I did same even when I was working not gonna change cuz I don’t work. if anything maybe cuz now my youngest is in school now full time I get peace of mind for those few hours till he and other kids get out and daddy duties activate when they are back

I know a family that did it and it worked well for them. Dad was very involved; PTA meetings, chaperoning, sports dad, etc. It’s very impressive.

Not sure what men have against being involved more than financially or “baby sitting” for a girl’s night out, with their children. You’re not less of a man because you’re not the breadwinner, especially when the house is functioning well. That trite and white idea of providing, jams up a lot of men.

:dwillhuh:

The problem isn't with spending time with the children and doing what is reasonable around the house.

Society has progressed since the 50s, so why on earth should a man be happy with cooking and cleaning every day.

Look at the situation reversed. If I was earning 500k to 1 mil a year, but expected my wife to cook and clean everyday, what would be the response?

If I'm earning that type of money, the only reason why I wouldn't hire a nanny and chip in every now and then with domestic tasks, is if I was looking to make a point of my wife performing those tasks.

It is not something I would do, so it is not something I would accept.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to view the situation from your perspective. Y’all have relegated a parent that stays at home to some sort of maid or bum status. Again, that trite, traditional gender role business people can’t seem to escape.

I don't view house husbands as bums which is why I don't think the point being contested is properly understood.

If I viewed it as light work, I wouldn't see the need to help out if the roles were reversed and/or hire maid.

My beef is with the expectation of cooking and cleaning everyday. Like I said before, it is not something I would expect from my wife so it is not something I will accept.

:patrice: Why? There may be a season where you out earn her.

If marriage is truly a team, isn’t her win; your win?

Marriage is a team sport but the roles each person plays aren't the same in my opinion.

I know it's en vogue to be more progressive in the context of relationships in modern times but I prefer a more traditional arrangement. I'm not against my partner working but I am against her being in a position where she might feel like whether or not our family succeeds rests more on her shoulders than mine.

I believe men and women are purpose built and I believe the idea of a woman working while her man is at home is completely out of order.

My view is about a father having a daily impact on the molding, modeling and rearing of his children outside of finances, which I feel is NECESSARY!! You're fixated on chores for some reason.

LOL people work from home all the time. Yall want to slave away at a job so badly to the point you wouldn't risk it to benefit your children. This is crazy to me.
