I can't believe some of the shyt I'm reading in this thread. :snoop:

First of all, he'll definitely remember it. Kill that notion. I still remember when Mo Vaughn came to my school when I was in kindergarten. And he's just an athlete in a sport I don't care about. Many great people talk about seeing/meeting someone at a young age who transform and add purpose to their lives. Hearing Obama's message and being in the crowd, in that atmosphere could, potentially, have a very profound effect on him. The upside is just too great to pass up.

Secondly, asking whether you'd do it for Bush or Romney is just dumb. I wouldn't skip watching paint dry in order to see them speak, of course I wouldn't bring my son. Furthermore, there's the historic nature of Obama....who do you think kids will spend more time studying? And if ya kid can look back and remember hearing him speak, that brings INVALUABLE perspective.

Thirdly,, it's absolutely silly to act like taking him out of school for one day to see the POTUS speak would send him some kind of message about school being unimportant. If you, as a parent are truly as gung ho about school attendance over the next 13 years, they'll be no room for any confusion.

Fourthly, acclimation is a legit concern but it's very short-sighted. So, his acclimation takes a week (and that's being generous) longer than it would've by missing the fourth day....is that really gonna matter in the scheme of things?

Finally: "You'll have other opportunities, since he's always up there" This is legit, if you follow through. We'll have to check back in November to see if you do take him to see Obama speak.

My daughter missed a day of first grade to go see the first lady, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I could tell she was in awe of all that Black Excellence, up at the podium. That one event probably had more of an influence on her life than the entire year of school.

I'm so proud of her, she actually has somewhat of an understanding of what's going on in the world around her. A Romney add came on tv talmbout how he cares about families, and she was like:rudy: "No he doesn't, I heard what he said about poor people and half of the country". I was like :to: "that's my daughter" I got some pictures I'll post them when I get home.

This thread is comedy.

So, his ass is in school. Daddy won.

HERE'S my reasoning:

He is JUST trying to get used to it, its a full day 8-3 and he hasn't done shyt like that since he was 1 1/2 and the wife worked full time.

I don't know shyt about what he's 'learning' today, but I don't want him thinking this quick he is OK to miss school to do something 'fun' whenever it pops up.

He also only gets like 5 days out before shyt starts happening for missing school, so I didn't want her to use a day to have him stuffed into the downtown for 4 hours to see some politicians speak, when we haven't even hit the fall/winter cold/flue/stomach bug season yet.

I think it would be 'cool' but I live in NH, so I've seen Barack like 3 times already. Them dudes are always up here campaigning. He was just here like 2 weeks ago.

fun????? how about history and a lifetime of stories to share with your family and his kids and their kids and pass that shyt down.. now i know you said he seen him when he was 2, but he will never remember that shyt

this is the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT... in 200 plus years of this country we got ONE. and your child and his kids and their kids and so on will have to do projects, speeches, reports, and everything else about this man. while other parents can talk of meeting him, seeing him speak, being there. your kid will talk of his 4th day of kindergarten.. that special day where he ate graham crackers, took a nap and spelled F for the first time

people don't realize what's going on here. i figure obama won't win.. the kkk in people is coming out.. even if he does, do you know how long it'll be before we see another black president... shyt might be never.. might be another 200 years. we will talk about these 4-8 years in history books forever

year 234,093,284,234.......

"who was the first president of our country"

"george washington"

"who was the first black president of our country?"

"Barack Obama"

that's forever and there's only one first... and your child missed out on something he might remember forever.. for what... structure for one day out of 180 that he'll be doing for the next 12-15 years...

A teenager missing class would be much more excuseable to me, but as a little kid, what is the point?

I must ask this, would any of you be saying go if this was George Bush or Mitt Romney?

they aren't the first anything and won't be remembered for a damn thing but bush and 9/11. so no.. i wouldn't be saying shyt about them... this is only gonna happen one time... how i look at america.. good luck on seeing another black president before i die... and live forever and you'll still never again see the first black one
