Would you leave a permanent FT Job for a 3 Year Contract Job that pays 10K more a year?

I work at a hospital currently making decent salary, just fixed up my resume the other day and was sending out and went for a interview with the city and was offered somewhat the same role except its only a 3 year contract and they are willing to pay me 10k more a year.

Part of me is conflicted :to:, the city job is closer to home pays more and who wouldn't want a city job.

I would take it. Who knows what other opportunities may come available. I have a great job and I do dumb shyt like fill out applications at other places just to see if I’m marketable. I have 3 jobs on the table right now. One pays less but I was promised a higher position if I stayed around until January. Plus free clinical supervision hours. I say all that to say, think about long term and peace of mind.

Depends on how much you make at your current job and your current growth potential.

If $10K is a lot of money and/or it's a dead end position, it's probably a good idea to leave.
If you make +$100k and you think you'll average 8-10% raises over 3 years, then it's not really worth it.

And it's not all about money. For example, I would much rather have a job that pays me less but is low stress and I love my coworkers than a job that pays me more but I hate everyone and is nonstop stress.

I would cause I don't plan on staying at a job longer than a few years anyway but 10k ain't really much of a difference if you going from FT to contract

IMO it all comes down to benefits. Between taxes and health care costs that 10K is almost gone. I wouldn't worry as much that it's only a 3 year contract. Vast majority of new jobs at the local governmental level are typically offered first to existing employees. My guess is that for every job that is publicly posted, 3-4 have been posted/filled internally.
