Why is it that parents used to let their kids sleep over more in the70s,80s ,90s I’m sure molestation rates were high then too, shyt maybe higher.

Because no one really knew how bad molestation/pedophilia was. Now you read all these stories and all these folks coming forward. How many teachers have been caught with students the past couple years?

Yeah no thanks. :camby:

Social media got people scared of their own shadow. People getting CPS involved and losing custody of their kids for letting them walk home from school or an older brother look after his kid sister while the parents are out.

This mane said a handshake!!:russ:

Breh pedophiles are VERY good at hiding their intentions.
Just yesterday I was told by someone:

“You know how some people lift weights to look strong? Shaking your hand, it feels like you’re the type of person who is just naturally strong.”

Pause-able moment notwithstanding, I’m a physically intimidating person in demeanor and stature.

My point is, when I had this situation happen twice (no sleepover, but a drop off to hang out) both dads knew, I’d tear their jaw from their face if they fukked up.

It's sad kids today can't have the same fun we did growing up.. Some of my most memorable memories were when I had and went to sleepovers.. shyt was super fun back then in the 80's.. Unfortunately I get why parents won't allow it these days.. shyt is too risky.

The problem is, we have no idea how many of those kids were molested back then. Maybe it was far less, maybe far more. Rose tinted glasses.

Everything was literally community based in most black communities back in the day… You knew damn near everybody in the neighborhood…. No such thing as a stranger for the most part…. I remember being able to get something to eat at anyone’s house for the most part
Having that community sounds great, I mostly experienced that in the countryside when visiting my grandparents never in the city.

The men would just manipulate the child into thinking it was their fault and the child wouldn’t tell u out of shame. You probably wouldn’t know till long after the incident happened. That’s how they operate. Sometimes it’s out of your control as a parent. It’s not always obvious when it happens.

Also if your child doesn’t like an adult male or female do not have them around that person. Sometimes things happen right under your nose even with ppl you know and trust. Pedos are master manipulators of children, start gas lighting them to break down their instinctive barriers and plant seeds in their head to normalise predatory behaviour.

No. I wouldn't even let my kids stay with just a male relative.
Exactly.

Any parent(s) doing this are foolish.

Again, these are chances you just don’t take.

It’s the same when they have older brothers/relatives in the house. You just don’t do it.

Ppl can feel how they want, but little girls have tragic stories for a reason. Gamble with your kids if you want to :manny:

I have two daughters. Unfortunately, sleepovers are a no go. You can do it when you’re 18.
:manny:
It’s wild because some of my fondest memories were sleep overs with the neighbors and cousins.
:francis:
You look up the sexual abuse stats and you will see why our generation is more protective of our children. Hell something like 30% of women have been molested/abused and of the 30%, what number is by “family” or people they know.
:gucci:
Sometimes the risk isn’t worth the “reward” of spending the night at your friend’s house. They can spend the evening and get dropped off.

My wife and I have already decided that our daughter isn’t going to any sleepovers. Staying with cousins or family friends is a different story but going to any sleepovers from school friends is out of the question.

Times definitely have changed. Growing up in the 90s, kids from school were sleeping over like it was nothing.

With the advancement of tech and exposing these weirdo PDFs on social media, I understand why parents ain’t with it. Shieet back when my sister had sleep overs, all they did was bump Brandy and talk to each other. Now with these smart phones, they might be looking at some bullshyt together.
