I don't see the difference between a "Black" social network and Black Twitter. What's the difference between this and the Coli or r/BlackPeopleTwitter.

If your business depends on charity or donations or "support" or whatever people wanna call it, you shouldn't make it.

Your number one goal and only objective as a business owner is to make money. Why limit yourself by catering to like 7 percent of the USA population when you can you know, make a social network that everyone uses and make millions of dollars.

When I make my social network, I ain't thinking about some social or ethical or whatever bullshyt. :manny:

I understand completely (though I disagree)

Calling it a charity isn’t accurate. That’s like calling a vegan restaurant a charity.

A specific product catered to and for a specific demographic.

The product: food/ social network
The demographic: vegans/ black people

All I’m asking is, if this is a business you would support

Thank you all for the responses so far. It's all hypothetical right now.

One thing I find interesting is that we are all quick to join and complain about FB or IG banning black people and allowing hate speech toward us, but it seems like we aren't too interested in supporting something for a little bit of money, that would seemingly cater to us.

When are black ppl gonna stop talking to each other like this?

It's not like ppl dont wanna be around where one else is.

It's normal not to crave isolation.

The solution is not always running.

And stop exploiting black ppls concern by dismissing it as "complaining."

I wanna support, but stop with all this "support or don't complain."

$60 is a great price for a year.

That’s why I asked what are you willing to spend. I’m honestly just sourcing. I gave several options 5 a month, 5 a year, 5 once, or nothing.

I’m not trying to “talk negatively” to anyone, just genuinely curious how much people would be willing to spend for an all black alternative

The problem is: when ppl have legitimate issues with these services, we're told to just deal with it because it's black.

NOPE. MAYBE IF IT WAS CONSTRUCTIVE. IT WON'T BE THOUGH.

Thanks for the feedback. Follow up question, I thought about it being constructive and that’s why I think charging and making it invite only would keep it as constructive as it could be. Do you think making it somewhat exclusive (with a harder barrier to entry: price and invited only) would help with it being a place that constructive people would want to join?

We are talking about services that already exist.

I :salute: the dialogue and have no I’ll will so sorry if I’m sounding bad. I want your opinion on the original topic, not a jaded version based on experience:

Let’s say there was a black developer who was trying to do something positive and exclusive for black people. Server costs, updates, etc would get expensive and that developer would need the support of the customers to keep it running and lively.

If that person made a community that focused on positive interactions around and for black people and made it invite only to keep the fukkery low (no “catches” or loopholes, remember this is just hypothetical, I’m not asking anyone for money in real life :mjlol:) what (if anything) would you be willing to spend to support it (if anything). OR, is that not something you would support?

That’s all I’m trying to ask and I’m sorry if I’m coming off the wrong way.

It is charity though.

Because in reality, could a Black social network, compete with Twitter?

No.

Just like most vegan restaurants can't compete with a regular restaurant with vegan options. Vegan shyt is expensive as hell.

Most vegan restaurants are depending on the goodwill of a customer just being like, "Oh, there are not that many vegan restaurants, let me go support."
Like the fact that people call it "support" is just some charity shyt. When I go buy a pair of Nikes, I ain't supporting Nike, I legitimately like their shoes, therefore I buy them.

The thing about creating "businesses" around a small niche customer base is that the mainstream already got options for them and they aren't that different from the mainstream customer base. Black hair is significantly different than White hair, therefore it makes sense to create a line of Black hair care products.

But is a Black internet user really different from a White one?

Black folks are internet natives and know how to find each other on the internet, create their own enclaves and have no problem being on Twitter or whatever in their own little world and nobody fukks with them for the most part. We even know how to suss out a White person and move on.

Most of these other social media network are around stuff that people like and what people like to do, not an identity.

If it was ironed out and also verified if users were really black, hell yea I'd pay $5 a month but it would need to have unique qualities tho

What? :dahell:

I’m not talking shyt about anyone. I posted a summary of what the answers have been so far. It seems as though most people here would NOT want to pay for a FB/IG alternative. BUT there have been several threads where we get mad at Facebook. Honestly, it caught me off guard that people pushback at the idea but complain about FB.

If someone invited me to an all black social network where I wouldn’t be censored for talking shyt about pigs killing brehs OR other social injustices, but told me it cost $5 to join to support the dev (a black man), shyt Id jump on it in a heartbeat :yeshrug:

YOU CAN'T MAKE SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE WITH JUST BEING BLACK AS THE ONLY REQUIREMENT. I WOULD START PRIVATE WITH LIKE MINDED PROFESSIONALS. MAYBE JUST A WEBGROUP THAT MEETS ON A CERTAIN DAY/TIME TO KICK AROUND IDEAS FOR SOMETHING LOCAL. MAKE SOME SMALL TIME THINGS HAPPEN AND OTHER LIKE MINDED PEOPLE MAY GRAVITATE TOWARDS YOU. DON'T GO FOR VOLUME AT FIRST. GET SOME QUALITY MINDS WITH GOOD ENERGY GOING AND LET THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOR CARRY YOU.

JUST MY OPINION.
