Would you prefer a smart girl or a dumb girl?

I guess it depends on what you mean by smart and dumb and what you personally value in a partner.

I have a friend who thinks any girl who doesn't have a developed taste in things like music and culture is dumb, while I tend to overlook those things more and value things like ambition/high character standards and someone who isn't afraid to genuinely express their opinions or be open minded to different ideas/people. I don't care if she doesn't like the same music as me, but it would matter to me if she was dismissive or accepting towards such differences.

I don't know your situation or anything but maybe he felt like you were trying to "style on him".

I've been in a similar situation (except i wasn't in a relationship with the chick, just an acquaintance) where the girl is smart but she's a smart ass as well. Not saying you're a smart ass, but maybe he felt like you were one. In my situation, it's not her intelligence that annoyed me and it doesn't make me insecure either. Type of girl that turns every convo into a battle of wit.

Now maybe your dude interpreted certain comments as you trying to be a smart ass (and maybe that comes from an insecurity issue he has) but it doesn't mean the intelligence itself is the problem. That's why i said in my post, I'd rather have a smart girl than a dumb girl. but I'd rather have a dumb girl than a smartass (whether she's smart or not)

genuine humility (not the fake self-deprecation kind often used) is probably one of the most attractive trait a woman can have.

But you may be right. I probably raltionaized the situation with "intelligence" a certain way.

A smart girl will know better than to do dumb shyt. A dumb girl you'll have to break it down to her why what she's doing is dumb and it will take more patience but when she sees her dumbness she will try to do better and it can still be a beautiful thing. You can still reason with her.

A smartass girl will know what she's doing is dumb and could even break it down to you but she'll still do or say dumb shyt to spite you or to find a way to undermine your authority. How do you reason with that? Is the frustration even worth it?

Sigh... the fact that you're missing the underlying dogmatism of your statement is more alarming but you're too busy being smarter than me which is more important I guess.

I speak from experience(not just people I dated either) you speak from......? And this thread is about females so I am posting as such, in now way am I saying that all males are superior either.
