Why wouldnt I want to do something I enjoy for a living? i dont get why people are saying these players dont have time for girls and shyt. pro sports players do and they are more busy than gamers.

some of these gamers at Evo probably are going to stay in vegas for a few days and fukk some bytches :takedat: I mean Justin Wong aint got nothing else to do today :mjlol: probably gonna pay some hookers and shyt :jawalrus:

being a pro gamer in his teens or early 20s :whew:

getting paid to travel the world and play video games :ahh:

even if you only make 30-40k a year, that's plenty for that age group. and the top players are definitely making more than that.

not just unreliable tourney money either.. a lot of these dudes got a salary and endorsement money so they're getting a steady paycheck :ehh:

Yes, I'd switch places with someone like Chris Smoove in a heartbeat.

i'd want his youtube popularity while playing competitively...better yet, let me get that nikka nadeshot's spot (not in cod tho)

You're not making any point breh. Kid is a god in MKX right? Any and everybody isn't going to be that nice in any game to win the biggest tournaments in the world.

You can quit your job today and play MKX all day long and that still doesn't mean you'll be good enough to win a damn thing or make any bread via videogames.

when did I say any of that?

all i'm doing is pointing out sonicfox ended up winning evo, who was the original inspiration for this thread

If your talking about competitive gaming I would If I had the skill or mental discipline.

Being a pro gamer really isn't easy, it pay's off but its essentially marketing yourself as a brand. I love competitive gaming infact I just got back from evo 2015. But its not something for everyone, and it takes hours day in and day out of gaming practicing grinding over and over and over. Traveling for exposure and more... And then on top of that you need to stream and be a personality. I suck compared to the top level players and I've spent literally 15 hours plus of straight competitive gaming. match after match after match.... you have to live eat and breath it. Its just a draining as sports but its 70 percent mental instead of physically

Its harder than any 9-10 and even some business ventures, the thing is most people who do it do it for the love and the money is just a added bonus.

No one is going to just try and make money off gaming, its risky, you have to have skill and its unstable. You can be hot one day, and the next week old news.

The problem is games don't stay hot that long. You'd better have a backup plan or you'd better stay on top of the hottest games. Either way, I'd get that degree first.

if you had the skill to compete with the top guys would you take that risk?

there's a 17-year old MK player named sonicfox that just won $60,000 at an MKX tournament, and now EVO is closing in (and i'm not sure how big the prize pool is) and dude could potentially win over $100,000 is less than a month :whew: not bad for playing videogames for a living

not gonna lie that makes me kinda salty :patrice:

fukk my job breh:mjcry:

:russ:

I don't think I've ever had the skill or determination to be that good at a video game but if you're that good to earn 160k
Off it

:whoo:

:ooh:

I'd be like fukk this job in a heart beat

Don't expect payouts like that 1-2 years from now, NRS isn't anteing up that shyt every major. The FGC isn't getting that eSports money yet, hell we're just now getting enough to pay the top 16 players :patrice:
