Grew up with no A/C in the summer. It sucks but I at least know what that looks like.

My Madea had 2 AC window units and wouldn't cut it on until 8pm at night. So from 8pm to 6am we had AC......

Depends on where you live. But it seems like the midwest deals with both of those extremes. I've only been to the midwest a handful of times and it was usually in the spring or summer, so I'd have to go with no A/C.
