I wouldn't leave out of town unless I have a new job at the location she wants to move to. I want to be able to have the funds to able to have my own place just in case me and ol girl decide to split. I don't want to get stuck in a new location without a home or move back to the home town in my parents' house..

I clearly stated in the op you would have a job, a home but you just gotta leave your location.

I did and we're set to get married soon actually.

We spent upwards of a year going back-and-forth on who would move to where the other lived as we both started jobs post college in different cities. You have to take a lot into consideration on this decision though.(Do you really see y'all staying together longterm? What career field you're each in? Is there growth there?) For some it works out and for others it doesn't. It made financial sense for me to move and I've been eating good ever since.

Plus Michigan versus the DC area really just isn't a fair comparison in terms of where I'd want to raise up my family and kick my feet up.

I just figure it like this, my girl (hypothetically speaking), the people I associate with, you guys, I share my world with by speaking to; but the person I marry I'll have to live in her world and she'll have to live in mine, until it's time for marriage I see no point in living together in a shared world. My aunt actually did that, she was about 27/28 when she moved with her then-bf to Calgary. They ended up breaking up, she didn't move back, struggled for a bit and met her future husband on a plane flying back to Toronto for a business trip. That being said, she's now happily married and still living in Calgary.

It could've ended badly for her but she pushed on and is now married to a wonderful guy that was from the same city.

Things like that rarely happen, Worked out for her.. But if things dont work out you could REALLY fukk up your life like that, new place, dont really know how to work around it, you'll see your life goin down the drain faster than you can blink..

So unless its a guarantee that you and so person will be married, I dont think I can do that..
