Would you say Dipset is partly responsible for the south blowing up in the 2000's

Naw. Down South artists were getting big national play and having HUGE commercial success waaaaay before Dipset did anything with Wayne (who wasn't even the huge star at that time that he became to be). If there is anybody that can be credited for breaking down some East Coast/ Down South barrier it was Jay on Big Pimpin. Even Wu artists were doing tracks with Outkast and No Limit artists waaay before Dipset.

What the Game's Been missing released late November '05 and only sold 140k first week and never did past gold.
Tha carter 2 was released December '05 and did 250,000 first week and went on to sell 1.4 million overall. Tha Carter released in June '04 and did 116k it's first week. Wayne was clearly the bigger draw out of anyone in Dipset.
These numbers don't mean nothing. Wayne re-branded and soaked up East Coast swag you can't tell the story of prime Wayne without NY and Philly.

trick daddy and trina was regional...the south and midwest make up over half the country..it wasnt hard for them nikkas to go platinum and gold..they could pop off in the south alone and go platinum

Take it to the House, I'm a thug, baddest bytch etc were not regional hits :comeon:

Those were bigger than any Dipset songs :childplease:

No. I don't even recall dipset and Jeezy being cool like that. Wayne did more for dipset than they did for him.

I ride for the south all day every day but i'ma keep it a buck and say some new york and philly brothers made wayne who he is. Dude sought the eastcoast on some hip hop college shyt. Weezy was straight new orleans swag/fashion and couldn't put a cohesive solo project to save his life til he took that eastcoast college trip. The talent was always there but I gotta keep it real on this one.

Dipset had nothing to do with the south outside of the wayne affiliation. Folk just rocked with the movement cause it was thorough and dipset had a nationwide sound.

Dipset had already fallen off and Santana was only relevant because of BM Jr. Of course you wouldn't actually know any of this being from Maine.

I'm not even from Maine, dumbass. I live closer to NY than you and

Wayne was on NYs radar after The Carter 1. His collabs w/ Dipset helped him gain momentum in the market, keyword there being HELPED.

If anything, Dipset did more to introduce Game to NY than Wayne off the Certified Gangstas remix.

Diplomat's influence is always exaggerated on this site, along with a few more regional new york acts.

Yes and no, depends on how much credit you're tryna give em.

Im a full-fledged dip stan, but their influence is completely exaggerated OR ignored.

Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
