You can still get a factory and manufacturing job and support a wife and a couple of kids. There's just not a lot of people with the necessary skills. There are so many boomers retiring within the next 5-10 years and hardly anyone to replace them.

Those jobs will be permanently removed from the economy breh.

Go for it! Your right, there are so many hidden opportunities out here. People need to change their thinking and get out here. It's only going to get worse for those who won't open their minds and hustle for their own.

The new wave is consulting. They rather pay a nikka what adds up to be $200k a year in unstable employment (if you got connects, hustle and do well) than a stable full-time $100k a year job with bennies. I don't like it, but I got my S-Corp shyt laid out to prepare me for that circumstance. Employers are starting to take notice of it though, and actually my side gig shyt is impressing HR people I speak to on phone interviews now. It can be a round about way but I've heard and seen many stories of entrepreneurs getting cushy gigs because of the expertise and hustle they've done on their own shyt. A lot of them get job offers with no interview because their skills and "Track record" are visible for all to see.

I hate most job postings when they ask for a "Proven _____ with a "track record" of success" like in most instances how the fukk do you prove that? A lot of corporate information is confidential and you can't disclose a lot of things that aren't public information. So if your client isn't a public company how the fukk do you prove it? By using your side clients of course and having them provide references for you :myman:

When I was younger, conversations with a few "Consultants" definitely helped to shape my view on career and finances. They put me on to the game.

This generation is fukked but the next one is going to be really screwed. Pensions have pretty much disappeared from the workplace and most people are not saving much for retirement. Combine that with social security being busted when we reach retirement age you are going to have a lot of people working till they are on their deathbed. Companies can try and push these people out but they wont have any money to live on, but since these people are trying to work longer in life they will be blocking the youth from getting the few decent jobs that are left. Its gonna be a clusterfukk!
