To argue the flip:
People die every day, B. If you consider things like chaos theory that posits all is interconnected along with six degrees of separation its highly likely that many of your actions have indirectly led to countless deaths you never stopped to reflect. And you didn't get paid as well.
Granted that isn't as direct as this where its presented as straight up cash in hand blood money but links in the chain are just this.
On the flip its also entirely feasible and probable that you've saved countless people from mischief and or death by using the same process. Things like this as well as hyperdimensional perception that shows how life is a pattern unfolding and thus predictable really make me question the notion of free will and I think its more akin to a positive or negative charge that sets your direction and perceptions whilst the script is what it is.
The world is a strange place that reveals its secrets to those with the ears to listen to what isn't said.
