You could say it would be like the COVID lockdowns, but it wouldn’t be. During COVID, you could still go to the store with a mask, you could still be defiant, and visit people. You could still see your neighbors when you get your mail, or chill in the backyard.

This would be total isolation, in the mountains, in a hotel. I guess it would be different now because of the internet, and streaming.

His job was to maintain the boiler so they wouldn't have to turn it off and restart it in the spring, it was cheaper to keep the hotel functioning.

From the novel....basically caretaking. Having to watch the boiler to make sure it didn't gain too much pressure was the toughest part. Rest was just watching shyt for safety and doing minor repairs. Plenty of food to eat you just gotta cook.

Isolation would be a bytch in short time, though.
