Would you want a game series to have a interconnected universe?

Say Bully had a character in it that grew up and became a protagonist in GTA6 or something would you want something like that to be the new wave for games in the future?


There's only a few number of developers that tried this already would you want this to happen would you care?

The team ico games is the grand standard of this, although they make it more for an experience at the expense of sales, but either way they make games being in the same universe fun and make you make your own story for the universe

I'd love an interconnected universe. Say the protagonist in game A ended up being the antagonist in the next game when you find out situation A through the deuteragonists eyes. Or maybe you could learn a lot about the antagonists motives through the second game and see it's not so bad after all. A lot of money could be made this way as people love series. A mini-movie that you're "altering".

Persona 3, 4, and 5 all take place in the same world. Persona 5 directly references Naoto and Rise as well as Chie indirectly. In Persona 4 you go to the school Persona 3 is set.

The king of this is the Trails series. The whole series is references and characters from prior games appearing in sequels that are different series with different settings but the same shared world.

The main two protagonists of Trails in the Sky are guest party members in the sequel Crossbell games and three of the party members of Sky will be in the new Cold Steel game. This doesn't include all the side characters and plot threads that go between games and series.

From my understanding, elder scrolls, fallout and some new Bethesda game are all in the same universe.

The new game is a space adventure that takes place 100s of years after fallout. Elder scrolls takes place on a long abandoned space colony.

I like how Atlus does it its very lowkey references that connects them all that you have to really look into if you cared
