She's a better singer/Artist than Jill Scott though. That's just a fact. They're both great, but Adele is better.

How is she a better artist than jill scott?

They both write their own songs but Adele strictly sings about love and relationships. All of her lyrics are online and that's factual. No hate there because relationship stuff is a tried and true R&B formula.

Jill Scott sings about relationships in a more organic fashion as well as politics, race relations, family issues, church, and a lot of times just every day shyt like not being complacent in life

And for a more political song

People are taking shyt to the extremes. No a black artist cannot go Platinum STRICTLY off black listeners. It's why Future is worshipped on this board but doesn't have a Gold plaque, it's why Ross has been consistent since DTR and has one of the best head on his shoulders in the game but his ceiling is 5-600k. Same for his underlings Wale and Meek. Appealing solely to white folks gets you that Mac Miller, Joey Badass, (current) Wiz sales. Solid but still no plaque.

Artists like Drake, Kendrick and Cole appeal to both which is why they can go platinum in this climate.

I would also argue that vocally, Adele is NOT better than Jazmine Sullivan.

Jazmine Sullivan literally has a similar voice, body shape, and song material to Adele.

Her music is on par with anything Adele has put out if we're being honest... Yet Jazmine has never had the industry push or support Adele has received. People love a white face on a Black sound, white people AND black folks...

Anyone who buys into the idea that white artists who fall under the umbrella of “blue-eyed soul” are being more true to the art form than many contemporary Black acts, and thus are attaining more success, are being willfully obtuse. Jazmine Sullivan recently released a beautiful, soul-wrenching record in “Forever Don’t Last.” I can confidently say that there’s no chance in hell that pop radio will play it. They would if Adele released it, though. A similar case could be made about any Sam Smith single and [insert R&B artist who can actually sing’s name here]. There are so many acts doing quality, soulful music, but the benefits they reap for it waver – mostly on race. You can sing along to Adele and Sam Smith and enjoy them, but now more than ever, we’re reminded that some listeners aren’t willing to do the same about their Black counterparts.
