Should have offered him 3 and 15 (or the mini mid level exception or whatever) and let Lin go find a better offer after. Would have made him look greedy. Running your most popular player and cash cow out of town isn't a good look. I think Lin will ultimately be an average PG but this is still a stupid move by NYC.

No, Lin wouldn't look greedy because the team he'd be screwing over would be the Knicks. Just like there wouldn't be Linsanity at all if he had those 25 games playing for Philly or someplace like that, there wouldn't be a week of coverage and questions of if the team made a mistake if he was leaving Philly for Houston. You don't seem to get it. If the Knicks are wrong, they're wrong. If the Knicks are right...they're wrong. That's how it works. You think these threads about the Knicks making a mistake about letting him go would turn into "Good Job resigning Lin" threads?

The Knicks weren't gonna pursue a S&T for a guy they wanted to keep. Besides, once Lin signed the deal a S&T wasn't even possible anymore.
