I discovered it thanks to this thread and I enjoy it. I'm about to watch the last two eps of the 1st season tonight :lupe:
By the way, nobody got Evangelion in their top 10 :ohhh:
As any anime been that far psychologically and philosphically speaking ?

Is this series complete?
Don't think so.
There are two seasons but the manga goes (a little) further and it seems like they cancelled the thrid season (don't know why). So you could watch it now or wait for them to decide to do the third and then watch the whole anime. Your choice.

-----

Otherwise, I Finished One Outs and Kaiji.
Both good animes with great character developpement and psychology. Fukumoto's work is to be discovered for those who don't know about him. His animes (Akagi included) build slow and there are not so much action, it's really all in the schemes, strategies and the hero's charisma.
- I was a bit disappointed by One Outs because I thought they would have the season going until the title. It ends with team jumping at 5th place and I was kinda of :ld: because I wanted more.
- Kaiji was good too but same with One Outs, I would have wanted to see the battle against Hyodo. Guess I would have to read the manga to know about it. And by the way, the Pachinko arc was WAY TOO long to finish : there are like 5 whole episodes with Kaiji in front of the game with him flooding the 5 holes level... :stopitslime:
I'm finishing Akagi as I speak but damn I'm like 10 ep from the end and I still don't understand how Mah Jong works. Too many combos, too many rules, too many specifities :sadcam:
But that's not what interesting in fact, it's the psychological fights that occur that got me :wow:

I don't care about baseball either but it's still pretty good. You should give it a try honestly above all if you liked Akagi and Kaigi.

kaiji is one of the greatest series of all time, breh
What's funny in the anime is the voice-over saying every thing 3 times crescendo : "Akuma... Akuma ! AKUMA !!!!" :pachaha:

I watch season 1 and only 2-3 episodes of season 2. All of it was piff. I'm not sure why I didn't finish watching, but it's on my to do list now.

yeah, I've been reading the Akagi manga for 5 years on top of watching this other mahjong anime called Saki, and I STILL only know the basics.

It's just great watching how intense dude is. How he BREAKS opponents. How he's :demonic:.

Sure, all cartoons have villains be on some ":damn: nooooooooooooooooooo" type stuff....

Akagi, though..... Akagi is the villain of the show, and it kinda shows. These Yakuza dudes is just minding their own business. Akaki just shows up and rapes them mentally. lol

yeah, especially. Because it's baseball... it's FAR more relateable than the other two.

What's up with Fukumoto and his bullshyt endings ?! First One Outs, then Kaiji (no final season) and now Akagi !
Just finished the latter and I feel like my climax has been robbed... I wanted to see Washizu hopeless and defeated. And yes, I'm kinda mad right now.

The ending to Akagi is one of the deepest narratives I've ever read. I seriously sat back for like 3 hours contemplating my meaning of life and shyt. If yall read Manga it's called Ten. Just go to the last arc which is solely about Akagi.

I guarantee yall gonna be like :mjcry: :mjcry: :mjcry: :mjcry: :mjcry: :mjcry: :mjcry:

I haven't even read it.

I been reading that one match against Wazishu for what... 7 years? SEVEN YEARS!!?!??

The ending of Ten fukked me up severely. But I knew exactly how he felt and why he did it. :mjcry:
