Stanford is crazy hard to get into based on academics alone....I find it hard to believe any scholarship athlete would be accepted by academics alone.....because they're given a scholarship to play ball.

that's a great GPA, but 3.9 alone isn't getting anyone into Stanford :sadcam:

we're talking about the #4 school in the entire world here

I had a friend who's Chinese and taught math at the high school Westbrook went to.

First thing that he brought up when talking about him was how much of a good (placed a lot of emphasis on that word) student and how smart he was. Dude made the :wow: face when he talked about it.

My theory is that the NBA to him was a pipe dream before he had a growth spurt. Dude was going to be successful no matter what.

To clarify: I don't think he directly taught Westbrook, but the faculty and staff were very high on him in that regard.

Highlighting a player's GPA always has this Noble Savage undertone to it - look at this one, he actually can read and stuff... can you even believe it?

Russy is my favorite player in the league, and neither his GPA nor any scholarship from Stanford enhances that for me.
True but maintaining 3.9 is still pretty cool, good for Westbrook
