Damn, I hadn't even heard about Luna. Underrated as hell.
I watched Over The Edge live in PPV and I still feel weird thinking about it. Everything went wrong for him that night... he didn't even want to be doing the flying entrance.
As everyone's already said, Warrior was just spooky... but it wasn't entirely unexpected.
Not his death so much, but I remember getting SO bummed out seeing Gorilla Monsoon at a WM shortly before he passed. Looked like someone had put him through the wash and he'd shrunk from The Immovable Object into Hans Moleman from The Simpsons. I was watching it live with friends who'd all been raised on Gorilla and Jesse commentaries... we all just went silent for a bit. Like seeing your Grandad in hospice.
Benoit was a wake-up call for the whole industry AND its fans, but, and same with Guerrero... the height of their fame/power hit during one of the only periods I've had that I wasn't paying much attention to the squared circle and so whilst the stories saddened me, I didn't feel like I'd 'lost' much. Having gone back and watched a fair bit of both of them, they were huge losses. Huge.
Rhodes really hit hard last week. Out of everyone, I think that one is the most upsetting. Not that he wasted potential or died too early... just that I honestly don't think we'll ever see someone like that ever again. Kayfabe is dead and people don't have the patience to see a lil' plumber's son talk about unemployment in interviews and get his ass kicked every damn week in order to build one of the most passionately supported underdogs the industry ever saw.
