I would say for myself Savage and Sting in WCW. I admit I didn't watch Sting or Savage really until Nitro. I remember when Sting was going to war with Hogan and beat him at Starrcade I was jumping off of the walls. When he held the belt my thoughts were "okay...now what?". It just seemed like Hogan was supposed to be champ and Sting was supposed to be in pursuit. I enjoyed watching the chase.

Same with Savage. When he would finally get the belt I would be excited but it wasn't as exciting as when he was chasing the title, battling odds and having random "madness" take place on the outside of the ring. He seemed more dangerous when he pursued the title than held it.

Sort of like on the other side of the coin. Hollywood Hogan looked naked without the belt. He literally seemed weak without it.

Maybe its was just a perception thing when I was growing up...IDK...thoughts?

Austin don't get me wrong he was a great champ unlike others but him chasing the belt from mcmahon, hhh, rock, taker ... fit the bill better

I remember vividly a couple years back buying ppvs to see Orton finally take the belt off Cena and HHH . When he finally won that shyt I lost all interest in his reign.

This a damn good topic, I always wondered if I was the only one that felt that way about certain wreslters. I also enjoyed HHH chasing the Rock in the summer of 98 for the IC belt, nothing is better in wrestling than a ill title chase.

Austin immediately comes to mind. Not because he was a poor champion, but because he was an incredible chaser.

Zack Ryder chasing after Dolph for the United States Title. Even though WWE didn't hype up the feud at all on Zack's True Hollywood Stories show both Zack and Dolph did a great job building up that feud. That pop that Zack got when he won was glorious... but after that was him being in the bushes and we all know the story from there.

Austin chases are legendary. When he had the odds against him his antics seemed 3x funnier and he was just somebody you wanted to see in pursuit.

I'm glad a couple of people mentioned Orton too. Orton is good at showing intensity and aggression, which works for a chaser. When he actually gets the belt he really isn't a fun champ to watch.
