:ahh: that burning house

Smh. I'm all for the best man getting the job but this is just stupid. Sounds like a key and peele sketch. You wanna push boundaries? Make all the white people enter thru a different door and sit in the back. Have separate concessions. Make it an event. Don't ever depict one of the few leaders we have as anything other than what they are. Let white people feel bad. It's ok to feel bad sometimes.

I love how the idea of Black actors playing fictional white characters (Idris as Heimdal and potentially Bond, MBJ as Human Torch, the very concept of casting a Black Batman/Superman/Spider-Man,etc) have white folks up in arms each and every time, and yet when white's play Black people/POC who actually existed (This, Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl, basically ever portrayal of Ancient Egyptians ever), it's totally ultramega ok. The motives are as transparent as their skin.

Looks like King's words came back to bite him

Oatman reinforced the decision to cast both a white actor and black actor as a “true exploration of King’s wish that we all be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin.”

In August, Oatman reinforced the decision to cast both a white actor and black actor as a “true exploration of King’s wish that we all be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin.”
