the comparison makes sense. a young rapper still in his teens going and making listeners go thru the entire cd. and being super-lyrical with it. its pretty simple and makes sense once you rap your head around it. hes not saying that its as good as illmatic. illmatic is goat and we all know this. but i agree. writer's block is to 2004 and punchline rap what illmatic was to 1994 and that style of east coast rap.

Wrong g..this is just wrong..reason being is that Illmatic ain't even the type of rap that Writers Block is...its way more potent lyrically and it was groundbreaking..Writers Block..while mad ill..was NOT..it didn't change the game in any way...nikka J.R wasn't even runnin wit his own style even tho he pretty much finessed that shyt..he was runnin wit Cam's shyt..

this is a dumb post all around...Illmatic is one of the GREATEST hip hop albums OF ALL TIME...Writers Block wasnt even the greatest mixtape within a 3 year span...and NO Nas was NOT more comparable to Kool G Rap than Writer is to Cam..that's just stupid talk...Cam and Writer had damn near the SAME style at one point...Nas' style was his own but it was influenced by the old school greats before him...it wasnt a direct BITE nikka..Writers Block was basically a damn compilation...alot of it was excerpts from freestyles or verses he did from the year before..even Jim Jones said it was a greatest hits on one of his skits on the mixtape..some of the nikkas verses sounded like they was done on a computer mic...shyt was not musical at all..not introspective at all...not poetic at all..it was all punchline rap...and it wasnt even the best street mixtape...u had nikkas like Saigon...Styles P..Joe Budden etc KILLIN mixtapes...wit full songs AND freestyles bodyin shyt..album worthy shyt...do u KNOW how many ILLER mixtapes dropped in the 2000's?..shyt..even PAPOOSE was killin shyt at that time...on a lyrical level...these fukkin comparisons are stupid and than my nikka wacky wonders why people come at him and the majority of the thread aint appreciating the mixtape/album/artist at hand cause of these outlandish comparisons and statements in his initial posts...no muthafukkas aint gonna see the point...cause that type of shyt overshadows it...bottom line..shyt aint even the Illmatic of mixtapes..let alone the Illmatic of the 2000's..and if u think so..u missed the whole significance of Illmatic in the first place..PERIOD...
