Writer's Block 1 was a classic mixtape.

I just think by putting Illmatic in the thread title, people are taking it as you are saying it's equal to Illmatic. So it's like Writer's Block = Illmatic and it isnt.

Now that I understand that's not what you are saying I agree that Writer's Block is one of the GOAT mixtapes.

Iis definitely one of the greatest solo mixtapes ever released imo and also, unfortunately, his biggest downfall as well because Jr could never surpass it. His whole career was him chasing his intial mixtape he put out at 16 years old

yup. thats exactly what im saying. and the fact that writer was a young bul just adds to the comparison.

smh no it wasn't people were checking mood muzik 3 because he was finally putting out original music again

because mood muzik 1 was just old ass freestyles he had already out

nobody checked for that mood muizk 2 because most people thought it was not original material

mood muzik 3 was when people really started checking for budden

because they missed out on mood muzik 2 and they went after the fact
to check out mood muzik 2 and realized oh shyt this was original material

because when mood muzik 2 dropped u got to remember this was two years after his first album flopped and he went off the radar

so when mood muzik 3 dropped they were was some buzz around him
based on the fact he was dropping some og music and it was new

You have no idea what your talkin bout. MM2 was by far his biggest mixtape and the one that gave him his following. nikkaz was anticipating MM3 cuz of MM2

The most significant thing JR did in Hip-Hop was those goons dancing with his chain. Fukkoutahere.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
nah. its not about me. they both were in my city player. difference is, that budden chit was dam near something that was exclusive to my crew. i remember niccas started calling budden corny around this time. i had to log on to sohh to truly embrace the budden tape, which eventually led to the slaughterhouse crowd.

and youre proving my point with the bolded, homie.

No..nikkas was callin Budden corny cause of Pump It Up..that was the whole significance of Mood Musik 2..it changed peoples WHOLE perception of the nikka as an overall rapper...that shyt literally GAVE that nikka Budden majority of his core fanbase..I'm not talkin bout me and my nikkas..or u and Ur nikkas..I'm talkin bout overall...and Writers Block was buzzin initially..and fell off the earth...meanwhile Mood Musik 2 had a slow but lasting overall impact...WAY bigger than Writers Block overall...

^im not just talking about me & my niccaz. my niccas werent the ones calling budden corny. i never speak from such a boxed-in perspective, homie. thats not the wacky way.

mood music 2 was the beginning of the shift of his fanbase. he was moving away from the old clue tape crowd and moving into his new internet-based audience.

those arguments i had defending budden were more prominent during the MM series days than they were back then.

i still hear people bumpin writer chit. i never hear budden getting played anymore. that MM series stuff didnt really get much play back then if you want to be really real. besides, intitially is what really counts anyway. everything else is revisionism.

Nikkas was NOT callin Budden corny off Mood Musik 2 g..u wildin..people was callin him corny cause of his prior commercial shyt...and there's no revision..MM2 has a bigger overall impact than Writers Block..

I know he used that bar on He's a Rider (one of the live tracks the Dips did on Hot 97).

That wasn't over Jeezy's beat though.

Writers Block was a dope mixtape for it's time. Nothing more, Nothing less. The 2000 version of Illmatic argument is beyond reaching.

:snoop::snoop: I swear some of y'all nikkaz live in y'all own world. Comparing Writers block to mood Music 2 is rediculous enough but comparing it to Illmatic in terms of anything has to be a joke

Sadly it isn't. Wacky D not only believes this, he thinks its the actual truth. We really shouldn't question 'The Culture Kings' Wacky D and Ronnie though, that duo is the most hip hop pair of muhfukkas since Mobb Deep or EPMD.

And Wacky D aint no one following you around breh. You post on a PUBLIC forum saying stupid shyt all the time that sits on the front pages of SOHH.com and here. You don't need to search for your stupidity and your over the top claims that are lies, you put it on display all the time, especially when you have 16,000 posts. Who really needs to search for it when you make these threads all the time? You make stupid threads so much that a 30 page thread on SOHH making fun of that very thing you do is one of the most posted in threads on that site in years. You do you though homey, you were a hip hop genius and knew the whole culture when you were 3. We get it, you live in a special place in your special mind.
