Crack era took away all of the men and fathers and now you have nothing but leaderless gangs
Glad somebody mentioned this bc it always gets overlooked in discussions about chicago.

This, the feds breaking up gang hierarchies, tearing down the projects, economic segregation, and the fact that the city/state are bound for insolvency all play a role.

The violence problem used to be worse in Chicago, but if you understand what these pictures represent then you understand the history of modern Chicago; the violence that consumes modern neighborhoods and the reason middle class African Americans moved to the burbs in large numbers, which in turn left near South and near West side neighborhoods vulnerable to gangs.

Norfeast groovin…
I’d say gentrification, intense poverty, guns from Gary, and some sprinkles of political corruption of various types are the main culprits for violence in Chicago and other cities in the country.

I know bro but it’s concentrated & quarantined to certain areas in the city so why is so many shootings & killings confined to certain areas of course I have some suppositions but I wanna hear some unique opinions from the people actually from the soil, then of course the rumors of boxes of ammunition and guns mysteriously found in pockets of the city just curious
worse in the 80s when it was confined to 2 separate areas with all the housing projects. When they knocked those down people dispersed and crime followed them, then they locked up all the top leadership and the structure dissipated , coupled with the fact CPD corrupt as shyt and so are the politicians is the main reason you have what you have now.

it's due to greed of the wealthy, racism, lack of opportunities for the poor, and sadly now, the culture.

it's getting better over time, but taking too damn long

That’s why they refuse to have harsh laws for heroin and meth. They saw how arresting the men in a community destroyed it. Meth cooking is a danger to everyone in the surround area and fentynel is killing people off one hit. But the refuse to have mandatory minimums for white drugs

So I stumbled across this channel from one of the comments & it’s dedicated to documenting the murders that Chicago rappers allegedly have committed and I started thinking we are so lost as black people that we are taking pride in killing each other & some people are acting like they are collecting Pokémon in the wild and they calling it scoring, imma street nikka from the Bronx and I’ve witnessed & participated in some things myself but when did we become so lost & desensitized as a people

Like what?

I don’t think that’s true cuz everybody got guns now even 11 year old kids
it was more violent in the fact that if someone got shot they died, not 20 people shot, 2 people died like what happens today. nikkas was fighting over drug trade and had a organized way of doing it. Nowadays people get shot over foolishness, not saying it wasn't ignorant in the 80's but today people are violent just to be violent compared to being violent for a purpose.

Just like how some spots in Cali are and have been heavy gang areas and the gang members breed the next gen of bangers, rinse wash repeat. I don't know how true that boxes of ammunition is but I've heard about that. Dudes I know from Chicago tell me some people go to Indiana and get guns for cheap and take them back to Chicago

not surprised. In the CAR, Red Cross is handing out first aid packages full of ammo, disguised as aid apparently
