Yes and as an African American you have an actual reference point for it.

klu-klux-klan-members-burning-cross-picture-id524671522

As for your second point it depends on the ethnic groups you reference. The people in the Sahel were doing great with or without Islam. It was just another form of religion for them and many cases they mixed their own indigenous religions with Islam. The people in the forest belt like the Yoruba, Akan and Kongo groups were also doing great without outside religion and they thrived off of their own indigenous religions. Other groups in the forest belt had various forms of their own religion, but there are so many other ethnic groups that we could not even begin to scratch the surface of it here.
LMAO! Oh I’m not even getting into extreme Christianity in America.
It’s a shytshow! LOL!

Im Christian myself but have a healthy hatred of what I call Christian evangelistic colonialism. All that Manifest Destiny, save the brown/blk people from themselves, teach the “savages” bullshyt can take a big ass leap into hell IMO.

I was just wondering how Islam, then British Christianity fukked up Nigeria because historians are now belatedly and reluctantly revealing just how stable tons of subsaharan West African countries were prior to the influences of the Judeo/Christian/Islamic white man colonial bullshyt.
Soooo basically, the country would be fine if all these motherfukkers would get the hell out. Or am I oversimplifying stuff.

I think the major issue is that leaders just use any influential medium as a vehicle for consolidating power. Nationality, religion, whatever. So even when different religions have some pretty cool, life affirming profound tenants....all of that gets ignored in lieu of it being used to control the masses—ironically in ways that are at odds with the very religions they using to justify fukkery with.:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

:dahell: Why we keep doing the same shyt as humanity over and over again?:shaq2:

Islam didn't fugg up Nigeria. Nigeria was always fugged up, because it was a made up country that emerged from the scramble for Africa and therefore it was created for the comfort of the English administratively rather than the necessity of the Nigerians. The rest of it is just divide and conquer shyt, which is what the English did by supporting the Muslim Northerners like the Hausa Fulani factions over the Southern people like the Yoruba and the Igbo that the English help to push Christianity upon.

To show you how cynical the shyt was; in reality the North of Nigeria should have probably been joined to the modern Countries of Niger or Chad, which would have made sense for historical reasons due to Songhay and Kanem Bornu and Islam. In the same vein the Yoruba lands in Southwest Nigeria should have been joined to the modern country of Benin, which is actually the lands of the Yoruba and part of their ancient Kingdoms. However, keeping nikkas divided by religious and ethnic lines was important for colonists, because it kept the colonists in power as they were counting on nikkas fighting each other over stupid stuff like religion and ethnic groups rather than over real stuff like resources and driving out the White invaders. In other words White people keep playing Black people and Black people keep falling for it.

:ohhh:So much history! This is what we should have been learning about in school instead of King Henry’s wives.:stopitslime:

Okay so present day Nigeria is what land? Was that Benin?
Then Arabs came with Islam, then Europeans came with Christianity? Then British came with the scramble for Africa and started carving shyt up? And your saying they carved shyt up without asking the natives if they even got along with one another?!!:gucci:
Or am I still oversimplifying. I can go do some reading so you don’t have to waste your Sunday answering my questions:russ: but sometimes actual resident perspectives are better than a lot of these racists scholars who like to candy coat Western negative influences from colonialism.

My only context was doing a bit of reading years ago about the ancient Kingdom of Benin and historical accounts say they built multi-story homes with no doors because the land was so peaceful and everybody had what they needed, so there was no theft.:wow: I believe these golden eras were prior to both Islam and Christian influences so I guess they were following African traditional religions? I dunno. You have more info probably. When did Islam and Christianity hit ancient Benin/Nigeria? (Once again feel free to tell me to fukk off and go read a book...lol! My limited knowledge comes from my brief foray into ancient African archaeology when I studied anthropology nearly a decade ago—specifically the Nok culture.)

So I’m trying to figure out how these African nations went from having THAT quality of life to this present fukkery. Just seems like if outside powers would leave people alone, these countries would be fine.

I mean they had shyt poppin back in the day

Why is Nigeria Islamic? And Arab influenced Islamic anyway.
What resources and benefits do they get from Saudi Arabia?
Nigeria is two countries the north and the south. The northern part was invaded by Jihadist Fulanis who converted the Hausa to Islam. They get no resources form Saudi Arabia, in fact SA is the root of boko Haram by funding them and promoting Wahhabism

Look up the Great Wall of Benin, it was the greatest man-made structure in the world at that time even greater than the Great Wall of China.Christianity and Islam were the two worst things to come to Africa. It destroyed 200,000 years of continuous African history and Religion. It made Africans lose their agency and become docile and submissive. Instead of killing their enemies they began to pray for their enemies. Instead of being indifferent to homosexuality, they became violent homophobes.

Saudi arabia influence of wahhabism = salafism is what happened with Nigeria & Boko Haram.

and make no mistake, NO countries leaders are willing to cut allyship with Saudi Arabia, so the “fight” against radical islam is for optics while people will continue to murdered in the name of radical islam, countries will continue murdering innocent civilians while “fighting them” and soldiers who get murdered dying while “fighting them” for nothing either, just a piece in a chess game... and the story continues:francis:
Breh sunni muslims (no offense to them) take that shyt way too seriously. I honestly don't see why the western world doesn't side with Shi'a Muslums more since they are less extreme than Sunni Muslims. Iran used to even be secular meanwhile Saudi Arabia is funding terrorism across the globe.

Not only that, but the Arab slave trade hindered the early development of Africa. When empires such as the Songhai were around, a lot of young, capable, and intelligent black men were captured for the Arab slave trade. A lot of Africans such as the moors and Nubians started seeing profit in capturing other black Africans for a profit.
Which is why I always laugh when a lot of you rep the Nubians and moors. Nibians, Moors, and Tuaregs were c00ns that would capture their fellow Africans and sell them to the Arabs. Same goes for the Borno empire and the Arabized black people in Zanzibar

Yeah your question covers a lot. I think that this map probably answers a lot of your questions. Here are the ethnic groups in Nigeria and where they are situated.

nigerian-tribes_orig.png

The thing is that it is not as cut and dried as some people try to make it, because even amongst some of the other groups like the Yoruba they have a Muslim faction. When people think of the Yoruba they usually think of the Edo people that founded the Kingdom of Benin, but there are also the Oyo people that also founded the Oyo Empire. They were also Yoruba and they became Muslim around the 14th century when the Hausa and Soninke people (Mande) traveled there for trade. The Oyo people land overlapped into modern day Country of Benin, which is to Nigeria's west.

OyoEmpireExtent.png

The interesting thing about the Oyo people and the regionality results on these Ancestry and 23andme DNA results is that the Nigeria result should be viewed in regional terms rather than country specific terms, because there is a lot of overlap between the ethnic groups (Yoruba, Mande, Ga, Akan, Hausa, Songhay) in Western Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Eastern Ghana, Niger and Burkina Faso.
