Jay-Z live is :wow:

Most of these rappers don't know how to hold a mic and project their voices enough to be clearly heard. Jay has always been able to project his voice well and sound as good on stage as be does on albums. Most rappers yell into a mic which defeats the purpose of having one.

I have seen many live performers and he was always one of the best in rap.

Damien Marley was :wow:

But reggae artists come from a performance strong genre. They make rappers look real amateurish. People complaining about nikkaz rapping over their vocals need to know that that shyt has only become acceptable cuz fans allow it. Rappers always tried that lazy shyt but fans used to give them shyt and shutdown shows for that. U don't pay hard earned money to listen to a recording live so do something about it.:yeshrug:

Haven't seen Jay-Z, Kanye or Eminem, so those may change my opinion, but I think the best live hip-hop show is The Roots. They kill all their own songs, and then they jam by playing other peoples' stuff, so it feels like a concert and then it feels like a party :blessed:

Seen Nas about four times, and for three of them, he was pretty amazing; every time I see him, I somehow forget how many incredible songs he has until I see him perform them again. Legends like Wu-Tang Clan and De La Soul are magnetic, especially Meth - as much trash as I talk about him, dude is incredible live. Tech N9ne is pretty incredible, too - the breathe control and the face paint are dope, and the crowd is hella involved too. Killer Mike is really ill too. Saw T.I. at SXSW this year, and his discography of hits automatically makes him a contender. N*E*R*D is really, really, really dope - great energy, great catalog, great musicality. Common is cool, because you can see how much fun he's having.

In terms of younger cats, Freddie Gibbs is dope, Big KRIT is dope, Mr. MFin EXquire is dope, Black Milk is ill (esp. with his live band), Black Opera has a really dope theatrical sort of show with costumes/etc.

Weak/middle of the road for me: Clipse, Lil Wayne, Dom Kennedy (one of my boys literally fell asleep during his set lmao), all I can think of right now

Hip-Hop concerts in 2013 are funny. nikkas kill me with that karaoke shyt, and then the fans be on some other shyt too.

Fans don't be giving a fukk about rapping lyrics, they wanna mosh and mob and shyt, or they just stand there like dikkheads.

I went to an ASAP show and shyt was just hype as fukk. nikkas was just talking to females and shyt while dodging elbows. Then you see footage of some lame crowd with a bunch of phones and iPads not rapping lyrics because they more worried about recording terrible videos from the back of the venue.

Jay Elec is the worst live performer I ever seen... And I used to go to talent shows :snoop:

I saw him at Made in America. He was :manny:

he cut the music off a little too much. I appreciate an emcee putting the emphasis on his words during a live show but it's like damn, i wanna hear the instrumental too. shyt was the opposite of the rappers who let the music overpower their live vocals

I'm not even a huge fan of Jay, but he's easily the best live performer I've seen in hip hop.(WTT, Made in America). had me going :lawd: to songs that I don't even really fukk with. but he just seems to add a new element when he performs them live

Eminem is above average
50 Cent is decent

Best show I've ever been to was Nas.
Last nas show i went to nikka was forgetting hella lyrics... luckily the crowd carried him over. To his own, the nikka looked like he ain't sleep in a week and he was in the middle of the whole divorce thing
