Ya'll nikkas talking about kane better than Rakim?:coffee:

Dude doesn't even really have a classic album unless you're a fan, let alone anything notable after 1989 besides the Juice soundtrack.

only old school guy on Ra's level is G Rap

They were all on each other's levels, Kane did way more with rhyming techniques than Rakim, based on studying their styles. Sometimes Kane sounds like he is trying beat your ass with his mic, until you turn into flesh with those bars.

:wow:

In my opinion however, I do think he was way more creative as a rhymer and how he wrote his schemes. Rakim's even back then was way easier to predict. Then KGR came and had everyone step up their multis game.

When you think about it, has New York really changed overall in terms of technical rhyming since then? I'm not talking the one-hit wonders and shyt, just those who been rapping way more than 10 years +

Elaborate on this subject.

Kane killed every feature he was in, the flow was spring water pure, and his delivery was top notch. Rakim was still on that ABC'ish type of 80s style that became dated.

1) G Rap killed Kane on the same track in 2000

2) This is Rakim 1999.....More crisp lyrically then Kane in 2000

3) G rap destroys Canibus on his own shyt in 2002. 2002 G rap was a problem lyrically.

4) 2009..Rakim keeps up with jada but doesnt kill him.

5) KRS and Canibus on the same track.....KRS keeps up with Canibus but he doesnt kill him

6) 2014 , G Rap leaves Bleek, Saigon and Lil Bibby in dust

2014, G Rap was an 80's rapper who went up against more younger well to do rappers and ate them all.....Cant no other 80's rapper say they more recently have done such a task on a track with up to date rappers so G Rap remains king of 80's rappers still out pacing the younger blood lyrically.

:dahell:Nothing about this was ABCish.

I never understood what "ABC" meant given rappers still use couplets nowadays and will continue to. By that logic is every single emcee who has used that format, full under that category?

:mindblown:

Even then most emcees use 3-4 syllable multis for end rhymes, so I'm still lost on this whole idea. Mfw, most Rap listeners don't know shyt about how rhyme schemes work in terms of literature and linguistics.
