I agree with 90% of what you're saying but the contract/points part doesn't really apply to this.

Cilvaringz is in Morocco, it was never anything as official as "let's have our lawyers meet and look over the paperwork". Dude asked them for verses, they gave them to him and forgot about it.

You might think that's a dumb move but #1 Cilvaringz is a nobody. Half the thread is Wu fans and they still had no idea who he was. And #2 most of them gave him verses for his last album and it sold like 5 copies.

So it's not as if they had a reason to charge him points, or a lot of money for the verses.

The problems arose when RZA aligned himself with Cilvaringz and legitimized this project as an "official" Wu-Tang album. Suddenly Cilvaringz isn't just a nobody, he's getting interviewed by Forbes. Suddenly this ain't a random ass project, it's "art" co-created by Cilvaringz and the founder of The Wu-Tang Clan.

Which is why the rest of the members are pissed off. A lot of it is about money, but it's also about RZA running off with a Z-tier Wu affiliate and recording a Wu album with no feedback from the rest of them.

see but that's the part you are missing... these are dudes with established labels, contracts, and deals already in place

you know why odb couldn't be in certain wu videos... cause geffen, his label, wouldn't allow him to, cause he wasn't showing up to his own videos... in other words.. the labels own you... they can stop features, videos, shows... anything they don't authorize

so if some unnamed nikka came out like "yea come thru and record a verse bro" and meth, jay-z, or damn biggie himself came through, recorded for free and said to you, don't worry, no money, we cool................... the label can still shut that shyt the fukk down... saying there's no contract, you didn't get written permission from us, and you didn't name what this would be for, along with ascap registration and a bunch of other shyt

what i'm saying... is they HAD to of signed the paperwork somewhere along the line... or a stream of multimillion dollar lawsuits are coming, no matter what rza said/did

there is no way possible.. you are taking verses from signed artists, with zero paperwork saying they gave permission, and selling that shyt for millions, without ever getting lawyers, label, paperwork involved

once again dudes sign shyt... don't read or ask around... and wonder why shyt is fukked up

A few of the other guys have made comments here and there about the project. Nothing as straight forward as Meth, who flat out said "fukk Cilvaringz", but none of them seemed happy about the project.

remember when Ghost was blocked from using 'Killah' on Def Jam and just used Ghostface for Pretty Toney? its kinda like that, Cappa is Cappachino, Meth is Shaquan (his original rap name) etc. they are all credited under different things when neccessary.

Here is why RZA will be only memeber to get paid a nice amount, he owns the Wu Tang Logo, Wu Tang Clan name and any likeness to the group...meaning Cilcaringz could not have sold this as a Clan album without paying the RZA...

Cilva is the mastermind behind this album, he paid for verses without telling anyone he planned on making it a Clan album...i honestly believe he didnt start creating this record as a clan album...after he got most of the album done, he came up with the auction idea and pitched it to RZA and the abbott being a geek now, loved it...

Crazy thing is, the agreements clan members signed after getting paid for the verses were the generic sign off contracts which state, cilva can use the artist names, likeness to promote the album...in sure the members didnt know it was a Clan album lol

Contracts my nikkas, rappers gotta add clauses as well...tbh, in this business many people get jerked...i know nikkas that are still waiting for verses from clan members and other legendary rappers...

Im not mad at some of these legends feeling betrayed lol.

Its business, right?
this is kinda what i've been saying

rza and his brother own wu tang

but to get those verses... those wu nikkas signed paperwork at some point

now they been hating this dude... and they been suing and talking shyt about rza for decades

but they awalk in here, lay down verses, sign generic paperowrk, and then get mad about it 2-3 years later

this shyt ain't no family... it's business...

there's been about 30-40 years of rappers getting fukking in the paperwork... from "oh you my brother" to "oh we family" and the wu especially been suing the fukk out of each other and beefing.... and yet still signing the same fukked up paperwork after the lessons been taught

they been in this since 93.... it's 2015.... when nikkas gonna learn to read everything, have a lawyer, and don't trust that family shyt

Breh that's all fine and well but it's Cilvaringz project. They gonna sue him all the way in Morocco? He don't come here, or live here.

And like I said they've given him verses before. Was paper work signed? Possibly, but just like artists don't go after minor people sampling shyt because it's not worth it financially, I seriously doubt Geffen, Def Jam, or whoever was eager to go after a guy that lives half way around the world because his project that sold 10 copies featured a Method Man verse.

So it's possible verses were given to him, stored for years, then pulled out for this "official" Wu album.

I guess if push comes to shove individual Wu members can sue RZA for however much he got for it....it wouldn't be the first time.

well they likely took cash because all of them hate their old labels, Def Jam isnt helping Meth get any money in 2008, 2015, etc they have no use for each other

its not RZA's fault at all, its no ones fault. they were paid for what is basically a guest spot on an unnamed album, that became this. none of them disputed they were paid, Cilvaringz does very well in promotions its not like hes broke. im sure they all understood there was no back end because Rae's greedy me-first ass would have been the first one to run to a blog

It's possible they maneuvered around the label politics to help Cilvaringz, who at the time was not a factor.

That's what some of you don't seem to get. The guy was a Z-tier Wu affiliate. His last album sold jack shyt.

So it's within the realm of possibility that they gave him verses same as they did on his last shyt, and instead of it being a low budget underground release that came and went, he got the RZA to legitimize it and make it worth millions.

People are acting like this "sell one copy for $5 mill" or whatever is a common occurrence they should've foreseen. It's some once in a life time shyt.

watch this album turn out to be nothing but a repackaged/used version of

71kz54K5K%2BL._SX355_.jpg

God knows no one but me bought this album, and this album had 0 buzz, so there is probably only the one copy I bought in existence :shaq2:.

RZA came along and dug this outta my trashcan, put it in a silver box, and sold it for millions.:leon:They didn't make him the leader of the Wu for nothing

true... i just think after 20 years of calling rza a piece of shyt and suing him and winning in open court... that you'd be a little smarter about these contracts and being sure you're compensated correctly

but yea.. i see what you're saying... at the end of the day.. you might say "ok 5k cause you fam" then they pay you and turn around and say it's wu-tang official for 5 milly

i'd be pissed too
