im 8 tracks i and this is waaaay better than LW and CM, idk why people keep comparing this to them. this is a real wu producer doing it, it sounds very clean but still has the old vibe. i fukk with this. not a weak track yet; meth killing it on this. pearl harbor is dope wow
the beats are def in the vain of the old style, cleane dup. you can hear the drums pop like they used to that rza dont really do anymore; that i noticed right away. soul samples remind me of songs like tearz annd cream; maybe some stuff on ironman, that typa light vibe (not cuban linx or liquid swords ish). you know what math does, but idk this is some of his best work imo.
edit:
FULL REVIEW
01-wu tang saga continues - cool lil intro, shaw bros shyt plus all the skits, i would think rza has these and did this unless math is a kung fu connoseur as well idk. beat that ends is cool, rza introing a song beat was sounding dope - he finishes the verse on the outro.
02-lesson learned - beat is one of the best, redman kills this song. top 3 song on album to me.glad i only listenbed once before album dropped, fresh to me and ill be playing this a while. - 4.5 star
03-fast and furious - a simple piano loop with some dope bass.hugh hef is flowing i like his verse usually i get mad at these typa features but hes dope.horns and vocal sample blends perfect with his verse. kids dope. raekwon does what raekwon does. raes story verse is DOPE. getting grabbed up by the feds. dope song. - 4 star
04-famous fighters - cool lil skit, i like this beat. wish ugid ghost and killa were on this.really stringy vibe on the album so far, i know what they mean now about chronic 2001 influence.
05-if time is money - beat caught my attention initially right away. my fav song. meth is riding it. this shyt reminds me of old snoop n dre..keys are sick, one of my fav meth solos in a minute. "been a hard rock since before the arm and hammers". he just goes off man and the end . ive read on wucorp this is prolly from the announced math vs meth mixtape he calls out the tape before the end. hook dope. - 4.75 star
06-frozen - meth in it again right a way with a solid verse, beat sounds like one of those 2001 type dre piano key joints. i really like the raekwon/ghost back n forth hook. good to hear priest with the clan on a cool beat.chris rivers drops a good verse. this joint is cool my fav thing is the hook. - 4 star
07-berto and the fiend - the classic wu skits with the music. could have been on supreme clientele you wouldnt know difference. funny.
08-pearl harbor - def a wu esque beat youd hear from rza in them days. good to hear price with the clan. "i fux with wutang and a couple of new nikkas" sean price teling the truth. meth again. he allover this.i could hear this on ironman, reminds me of assassination day a lil. they all drop good verses. "la la la la biobby convert lady gaga". - 4.5 star
09-people say - i didnt give this a lot of play cause again i wanted to enjoyt it in its album context. drums and bass are dope on this.i hear the main sample keys being played in a familiar fashion to a wu song i cant name but its driving me crazy. math doing a real good job with the vibe and consistamcy of the beats on this album. they all kill it, red brings the energy. - 4.5 stars
10-family (skit) - truth in this post about women lol duped into going to work. idiots
11-why why why - concious type of verse from rza. good verses imo but people hate everything, the why why why singing is simple and is dope. sometimes they really overdo the hooks., i like this beat.drums and bass stripped down type beat. "only plays the weekend" lmao. some truths in here i really like when rza does this he on his cure shyt but some people call rza you know what so idk take it how you want. for some reason i feel like this will be my most replayed to catch everything rza saying. i really like the singing all the way through this isnt nathaniel on abt lol - 4.5 star
12- gd up - simple beat but im feeling its change ups annd that sound at the end of the loop that builds. might be my fav beat. meth is sounding in really good form all over this album. not saying much in the terms of punchlines but hes flowing. raekwon hook is dope too.uh oh... a nathaniel sounding dude saying BIG BOY LIFE... ugh. r-mean cool i guess. why does my fav beat on album so far have to have that corny singing shyt... ugh - 3 stars... id give it 2 stars but i can cut the song off after the raekwon hook that may save it
13-if what you say is true - i like the second part of the beat but the first few bars of the loop is boring... song got cappadonna, mastakilla, streetlife and gza. beat kinda boring to me, the guys do what they do but idk if ima be repeating this all that much. does sound like some of that grimney wu stuff (sounds like pioneer the frontier from abt didnt like that either). drums kick tho - 3 stars
14-rza continues his verse from the intro... id why they did this it woulda been a great song. ima stitch this shyt together. verse is cool but why the fukk did they split it into 3 parts man come on. beat is dope too one of my favorites. - 4.5 if i can get this shyt together.
15- hood good bang - thisreminds me of mathamatics style. this beat is one of my fav. meth floats and kills it , another math vs meth song. hook ok but this is really the most wu sounding song to me. red just does hook, he adds that odb energy to it - 4 stars because its too short
16-my only one - this actually might be my fav, singing works well with the beat. beat is that dark type with hard drums but they talking bout bytches.. "her credit line is like rzas and divines combined" lol. ghost tells another great story abou a girl. rza tells a good story too. this song really sounds like a legit wu song that coulda came out. itll get heavy play. cappadonna finishes it off with a cool verse. cap always drops great verses about girls lmao. gives me wu forever vibes - 5 stars
17-message- just some talking... . cool beat in background. i wish we had the real song cause its soulful. rae and ghost would kill this.,.,,
18- rza song from intro. shyt needs to be put back together.
i like this album. it still gives me a better tomorrow vibe in that it goes with the soul sample vibes (ron oneil and a better tomorrow for example) but it sounds organic and fresh compared to that album minus a few tracks. i think it could resonate better with younger people compared to any of their other stuff which was sometimes not very friendly to radio or was experimental.. this is way more traditional and very solid alltogether.
it didnt have songs that grabbed me by the soul like old wu tracks but maybe thats because im older. ima let it marinate before i can place it anywhere in the catalog ratings wise with the others.
guess ill pretend im 18 for rest of the night n bump some vintage wu.
fukk cilvaringz wu tang album. thank you math, he stayed in the cut for 2 decades and dropped a really good WUTANG album. im copping this
