Have you played the previous installments? They are moving to more sim gameplay and added more animations to make matches look more like "real" wrestling. You can just look at streams and YouTube clips and see the difference

I just lost a table match with Cena because i went off the top rope and he moved. 
Still no luck getting the bell. Thats something I can get past, but I'm pissed that when I got up this morning to play and all my saved data is gone like I never did shyt! I'm glad I have the season pass or all the unlocked characters would have been just fukking lost.

This series has a lot of potential and I anticipate 2K will perfect a lot of aspects in the coming years as they've done with the NBA series (even though the NBA 2K games are not perfect by any stretch). This game was obviously hastily done in some areas and just feels like it was time-constrained, but they are taking a step in the right direction.
