After watching the tutorial, y'all are kind of over stating the combo thing. You can still use circle/B to grab the opponent and square/X or triangle/Y and the direction buttons to perform grapples. The combos seem to be more for chaining strikes into grapples without initiating grapples with the circle/B button.

They are, and you can’t really judge the combo system until you play the game. The gameplay looks improved with extra options to attack to switch things up and more ways to defend yourself from attacks.

Exactly. From what I saw, the combos seem like a way to get around some of the expanded defensive options. For example, if you constantly go for grapples, it makes you more predictable than a player who works strikes into their offense.

I just want to get my hands on the game at this point to see how these new mechanics will function.

2K's team marketed it in way that made people think the combos were the only way to do grapples now, that's on them for not properly explaining

At the risk of sounding entitled, microtransactions & paid DLC seem like a middle finger to the core fanbase who stuck with them after 2K20.
