The word going around in WWE is that things may not exactly be done yet as far as the CM Punk issue is concerned.

Punk, whose WWE contract officially expired recently, noted during a recent interview that he will "never" return to WWE again.

While nothing is official at this point, there is at least some talk going around the company regarding a possible lawsuit against Punk for breach of contract.

There aren't a lot of specific details regarding this story as of right now, however it is known that there are many people very high up in WWE who are less than pleased with how everything went down with Punk.

If and when any updates become available, we will be sure to post them here on the website.

he's a 1099 contracted employee. If he doesn't fulfill his side of the contract then they have a right to NOT pay him for the remainder of the contract. If he fulfilled his contracted dates they have no case. Miss me with that "some talk going around". WWE doesn't want any parts of their business being in a court room.

Phil could then countersue for that independent contractor language. Led to hasty settlements in the Brock and Daffney cases

The Brock case was a particularly hilarious example of the WWE getting humiliated (and the only reason why that wasn't the watershed moment was because Brock was going to New Japan). The audacity of them attempting to say that their territory was the entire world...

WWE isn't going to sue Punk. They don't want to have to explain to a judge just why they paid a guy who allegedly breached his contract for 6 months before doing anything, nor why or how a supposed "independent contractor" can be locked into the types of deals that WWE workers sign.
