Lesnar vs. Reigns for the Universal title.

The goal is very much to make Reigns the next Cena, which was the plan for Santa Clara two years ago, until they decided to delay it based on fan reaction.

The plan is to once again build for a year and have the big coronation at WrestleMania. The idea between now and then is for Reigns to be the face, not just when he wins the title, but to fully replace John Cena as the lead babyface of the company.

How they’ll make that work is uncertain. They may just go with the idea that the fans that attend TVs and PPVs that boo Reigns are a minority of their worldwide audience and ignore the obvious crowd reaction. It’s hard to believe that in one year, considering it’s been more than two years since they’ve tried to change things, that the Santa Clara reaction of Lesnar being far and away the most popular wrestler on the show as the heel, and Reigns being even more far and away the most hated, even positioned as main event babyface, will change much with another year of attempting to convince fans Reigns is the guy.

How many more times are you gonna try to push someone who's getting widespread half and half reactions (When he's not getting outright booed) as the face of the company when the majority of fans you film on TV and PPV have made their decision on the matter known?

And before anybody says crowd reactions don't matter, answer me this: Why tone down the crowd mics all of last year to the point where his wins were met with deafening silence, which is almost worse than getting the "wrong kind of heat" if they didn't care about that kind of thing? And then when Roman gets the Eva Marie treatment when he's holding the belt up high to close Mania 34, you can bet they're gonna lower the mics again.

At first I was like ok they are just gonna push through it for a little while like they did with Cena..but Cena's pops were bigger and Roman doesnt draw like Cena ever did and still does. They were right to never turn Juan heel but this shyt brazy. The worst part is a few people have gotten hot but they didnt wanna run with it to favor Roman. Dean Ambrose is a jabroni now but when Roman was injured 2 years ago, Dean was hot. When Seth came back he coulda been a face and had a HBK run but they fucced that up within a week

I thought it was pretty obvious reigns is gonna beat taker then itll be the showdown between the only 2 men to ever defeat taker at wrestlemania blah blah blah

Just dont see lesnar holding the title for a year without the fans growing tired of having a part timer as champ for a whole year

unless they turn reigns heel for a portion of the year this is gonna fail worse than the first time

he'll be the next cena alright with them crowd reactions, but to cena's credit even at his peak years of getting booed he would at least get a few pops here and there depending on the place reigns has been nonstop heat for a while



also to cena's credit he was at least able to finesse and pander his way out of certain hostile crowds to get them to cheer for a few seconds through his charisma and mic work, something reigns doesnt seem to show.. the whole "make a wish" "marine" angle helped cena a lot

It's not 1982.. Brock can win the title this year, lose it any time in the next few months, and win it byke at the Rumble in time to c the champ at WM next year. Or Brock loses the belt, and wins the Rumble and faces Reigns at WM datway

Wasn't the plan to do this match at Summerslam? I don't remember if I read that somewhere or just imagining shyt, but I had it in my head that they'd do this one at this year's Summerslam.
