So for all you US dudes was the only way you could watch Mania through the WWE Network? Or was it available on PPV shyt through cable companies too?

It was available on PPV. I ordered it thru there because I decided to not get the network until after WM since I was worried about it failing during. Thankfully, aside from the preshow audio issue I've heard nothing but good things about its performance last night. I'm definitely copping for Extreme Rules tho.

True that does matter a lot too, but people got to be really dumb to not buy the net work for 9.99 a month but buy 60 dollar PPVs. Definitely possible

Didn't Meltzer say that pre orders for Mania were way higher than normal PPVs but lower than usual WMs? That probably means close to 300k to 450k buys once it's all set and done.

But PPVs are only gonna be relevant for Wrestlemania though. No way the get more than 70k for a B PPV, imo.

I'm looking at losses. If the TV deal is equal or close to what they have now then nothing much is gained but a lot of money went into this network and they needed 1.5 million to break even by years end. That's a LOT of revenue loss if it doesn't reach that point. The TV deal is gonna have to be GREAT to make up for that. It might be but we don't know yet.

But they are prepared for losses though. For the longest, all I've heard is that they wont be shocked if the lose money this first year. Of course that's no ideal and they'll have to work very hard to make the Network profitable if the new TV deal isn't great, but it's not like they'll be caught of guard.

You can wear your WWE fanboy glasses all you want, the number is very bad. They promised 2 million before the year is over, there's not a chance in hell they even break a million before the end of the year at this rate. The ONE PPv that would get a large portion of people to subscribe just passed and they couldn't get 1 million but all of the sudden by October they're gonna have nikkas buying it, why, so they can see Battleground? Lmao.

The announcement this morning of only 667,287 subscribers to the WWE Network has led to massive stock selling. As of this moment, the stock has dropped $6.07 to $21.97 per share.

The number shocked people internally who were led to believe the network was doing far better than that. The number had been kept secretive from almost everyone, but at business meetings over the weekend with companies they work with, they pushed the Monday announcement hard and in a positive manner.

WWE stock price was tremendously inflated by speculation so it isn't a surprise to see it come back down to earth.

I never though they could hit a million on the US alone but when they expand the network to more global market they may have a chance.

I read somewhere they need like a million plus just to break even on the network.

who really gives a shyt. I bought the network, and its dope. Rasslin is still a niche market, but it is seemingly expanding. Myself and a whole group of my friends all recently got back into wrestling in 2013, and I dont think we are alone. Guys like Austin said they got the wrasslin bug back after not watching for years as well. To me it looks like its gonna grow, and you gotta give props for Vince for pioneering something as awesome as the network for the rasslin biz

It's not good news. The stock has fallen immensely today since the news broke. The number is not good at all. And this is with the WM people, who are more than likely gonna cancel their subscription after the 6 months is up. There's nothing coming up that's gonna build fans interest like that to order the network. I'm a dieheard fan and even I barely find myself watching it. People who really don't care about the current product, with WM over, probably gonna get rid of it once Summerslam is over. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so

So ur a "die hard" fan, but you can't find anything to watch? You didnt find paying $10 for an HD Wrestlemania a good deal?

The rest of these casual ppl gonna go back to paying $60 per ppv? Even if they only order 1 per year, they're wasting money by buying PPV.

End of the day, the number is a little bit lowER than they'd like but they're still almost 3/4th of the way to their goal.

Everyone is saying a million to break even but I thought they initially said 800k to break even and they hope to have a million by the end of the year ? Or did I imagine that ?

I didn't say I can't find anything to watch I said I barely watch it, meaning I don't have time. But 10 dollars a month means nothing to me because I get PPVs every month. I'm w regular watcher. To people who subscribe but don't watch regularly new PPVs mean nothing, and eventually you get tired of watching just old PPVs. They only have 1 percent of the content they own up. And of course WM is a great deal.

It's closer to 1.5 to break even. I never heard 800 K. I did hear 1 million initially but that changed quickly

yeah, but you're being WAY too negative about a number that's not warranting such. Admittedly, before last night, I havent watched a PPV in over a decade. Why? b/c A. I'm not paying $65 bucks for one single event and, B. I don't like watching internet streams over my computer. I watched last night on my big screen TV.

Put it this way, who watches USA network at any other point during the week? Nobody. They only tune in for RAW. In some ways for many ppl this will be the same way. They may only tune in for the $10 PPV every month.

IMO, they handled the marketing somewhat wrong.

Let's face it, many wrestling fans are slow, it is what it is....and alot of people think this Network is just watching over their computer or tablet(rather than their TV), which is a turn off. And that's all they show when Cole/JBL/King demonstrate the Network on RAW.

They need to do a backstage segment of wrestlers watching the Network on an actual TV, or have fans send in YouTube videos as "testimonials" with them watching the Network on their TVs, their big screens. I know it sounds funny, but ppl are visual.
