I missed out on this era when WCW and ECW were falling apart. It's crazy reading these stories a decade later about how the wrestlers could see the companies dying. WCW and ECW dying was the worst 3 month span in big time pro wrestling.

I have doubts that ECW would have been able to get truly huge. As Joey Mercury mentioned in the article, that was a niche audience and it's hard to imagine a Heyman-run wrestling company, even if it evolved the way he said it would, becoming truly mainstream.
Hey, I loved ECW, but the big money in American pro wrestling requires catering to kids at least to a certain extent. If you completely ignore that market, your growth potential is limited.

yep same here. I was in high school from 2000-2004 and fell out of watching wrestling in general like that so I didn't keep up with WCW and ECW dying much less the WWE.

I remember when ECW invaded RAW RVD's first run in the WWF
We couldn't get ECW where I lived but I would hear about it and read about it in wrestling magazines.
