Who is "everyone"? Only a few select people here, mostly the dude (Suikoden?) who goes TRILLTISTA gave a shyt about Tista's return. I've never even heard of the movie Batista is playing in this summer. What the fukk comic is that? I had to wikipedia that shyt. That's the level Batista is at as a wrestler: who the fukk is Batista. Which brings me to my final point: a lot of us are D bry fans. As such, anyone with a brain knows that Batista was PROBABLY going to take Bryan's spot. Many of us were hoping for D bry to be entered at the Rumble at 30 and win. I certainly was one of these people. Before Rumble, there was the IDEA that Batista would be the one to win Rumble and go on to main event Mania, but with a two year contract, there was never any idea that him winning was set in stone.

In short, you can take your revisionist history hyperbole elsewhere. Your entire argument is reductionist as if you actually think that all WWE fans are the same person.

There was some excitement to see a former big main eventer come back for some people, but I don't remember reading or hearing anybody supporting him headlining Mania/getting a title shot. shyt, since he's been gone, there's barely been any kind of "i miss Batista" talk. Even here, dudes were like basically like "hope he fukks Eva Marie" or some shyt like that.

As far as it being obvious, maybe. But the fan response was just as obvious.

CM Punk has remained one of the most over guys on the roster no matter what. Bryan passed him up, but the fans have never really turned on this guy. There's some smarks that will never be happy, but in general, Punk's been a favorite everywhere.

Wyatt chant lasted one show. Fans were corny for that, true.

One buyrate went up. The last one he headlined. Then the next show without him did a 20-year low in event history.

Hey, fans had Ryback massively over even with the Goldberg chants and they buried him badly.

Stink is too old. But that's more on him. He should have made the jump a long time ago if he was ever going to do it.

No one explicitly stated that he should get a main event slot or title shot but it was pretty much understood that's what he was being brought in for and everybody was

Of course everything changed when he came back as a face looking like he was going to hook up with Darren Young and hit the spots later. Everybody wanted 2009 Batista but they got that generic 2008 Batista, just six years older.

Fair points but I'm speaking about how WWE fans in chunks will taunt and riddle the WWE with complaints no matter who's on top, who's returning, or what's the main event. Don't even think for a second that if Daniel Bryan became champion and the focus of the show that people won't be shytting on Raw all up in the threads and on other websites.

As far as Batista goes, I was speaking more on wrestling fans in general. But even here too. Yeah, people here loved that gimmick, but nobody was hoping to see him main event and the forum is extremely pro-Bryan. The reaction didn't surprise me at all.

Wrestling fans (particularly smarks) can be incredibly annoying hypocrites. Typically, I agree with this stance. But just in this particular situation, I find myself siding with the fan. Just because I think fingers get pointed at smarks too often to cover up for the fact that the WWE is putting out a super stale product and is having to lean on the stars they created a decade ago. It's always about this guy doesn't draw this and this guy doesn't sell that, but at some point I think we just have to look at the company and acknowledge that they aren't drawing because the shyt they're putting out sucks as a whole.
