As far as Batista goes, I was speaking more on wrestling fans in general. But even here too. Yeah, people here loved that gimmick, but nobody was hoping to see him main event and the forum is extremely pro-Bryan. The reaction didn't surprise me at all.

Maybe I'm naive, but I didn't really see it as a lock. And look here: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/so-who-wins-the-rumble.182048/ We were really giving them the benefit of the doubt on this.

Wrestling fans (particularly smarks) can be incredibly annoying hypocrites. Typically, I agree with this stance. But just in this particular situation, I find myself siding with the fan. Just because I think fingers get pointed at smarks too often to cover up for the fact that the WWE is putting out a super stale product and is having to lean on the stars they created a decade ago. It's always about this guy doesn't draw this and this guy doesn't sell that, but at some point I think we just have to look at the company and acknowledge that they aren't drawing because the shyt they're putting out sucks as a whole.
But then again HHH's whole thought process of wrestling is to put his people over regardless of the consequences so Batista is pretty much the actual favorite.

Coming from the guy week in and week out talking about CM Gawd's ratings :camby:

Coming from the guy who had no issue with CM Gawd taking an L to Dwayne :camby:

Now because it affects a guy the IWC hasn't turned their backs on it's a problem. :camby:

As @Kind Gentleman said "The chickens have come home to roost."
kfsa.png

Not really any different than when the anti-ratings brigade would want to talk about numbers when they benefited Punk, but when they were down, was all on that "just watch for the entertainment, I don't get any money from this!" And again, I never said the guy shouldn't have gotten the opportunity, so the point is moot.

Had no issue with Phil taking the loss to the Rock, because I'm still entertained by the Rock. He's one of the three truly transcendent talents of the modern era and I'm a fan of that kind of history. I don't know how many more times we're going to get to see him perform. And that's funny because that flips the argument - IWC fans whining about the Rock distancing himself from wrestling and then whining when he comes back.

It's a problem now because if affects a guy that has been the most over guy in the building for two years. It's a problem now because I have absolutely no interest in seeing a Randy Orton and/or Batista headlined event. You don't either, but acknowledging that doesn't make it as fun to add HHH smilies and stuff.

And the anti ratings brigade still aren't saying anything most of them are Bryan fans as well, it's just funny to watch all of you ratings nikkas all of a sudden say "fukk the #s just give him a chance :to: " Now because it affects someone YOU like.

Yeah those 2 star matches the Rock had when he came back are really going to be a lot better than Batista's :obama: No issues with the Rock coming into the main event because YOU like him but Batista does the same and its 100 threads about poor D Bry.

You don't want to see the event but those ratings that you love so much show Batista is a draw right, you made your bed, you just don't want to sleep it in because it affects someone YOU like now.

#BestforBusiness now with 75% less smilies, you happy now?

Who is "everyone"? Only a few select people here, mostly the dude (Suikoden?) who goes TRILLTISTA gave a shyt about Tista's return. I've never even heard of the movie Batista is playing in this summer. What the fukk comic is that? I had to wikipedia that shyt. That's the level Batista is at as a wrestler: who the fukk is Batista. Which brings me to my final point: a lot of us are D bry fans. As such, anyone with a brain knows that Batista was PROBABLY going to take Bryan's spot. Many of us were hoping for D bry to be entered at the Rumble at 30 and win. I certainly was one of these people. Before Rumble, there was the IDEA that Batista would be the one to win Rumble and go on to main event Mania, but with a two year contract, there was never any idea that him winning was set in stone.

In short, you can take your revisionist history hyperbole elsewhere. Your entire argument is reductionist as if you actually think that all WWE fans are the same person.

Negged.

That's not even close to being true. A bunch of people in TSC were marking out HARD for Batista, until he came out wearing skinny jeans and they immediately turned on him,

With the exception of you taking a shot at Guardians of the Galaxy (it's dope...hit up the comic thread in The Arcadium) this post is 100% true story

Well, it's not suddenly. I wasn't opposed to Punk getting the chance last year. I'm not opposed Bryan to getting his chance now. If Bryan gets the strap for a year and ratings dip, I won't be here saying "fukk the #s."

Showing support for a wrestler I like and then not showing that same support for a wrestler I don't. Very strange concept, I guess.

Meh, the ratings discussion hasn't been part of this forum for like a year now. It just seems you're on some kind of witch hunt trying to find an "A-Ha!" moment rather than discussing the actual issue. You're no better than these fans you seem to have a problem with. When we weren't showing support for the hardworking underdog last year, it was a problem. Now we're showing support for the hardworking underdog, and you're not happy about that. Really just comes across as misguided bitterness that we didn't show the same love to Phil.

Punk did fall off...on the mic. His promos in 2013 were boring. You could often see the audience looking down at their phones, chatting, taking bathroom breaks during his promos. I think that's a bad example. Everyone hates when someone comes back and immediately win something huge, it kind of nullifies everything they walked back into rather than integrating them back into it.

I still want Taker vs. Sting.

When it mattered you all did nothing, make your bed, lay in it.

The problem is that wrestling fans are too cut-and-dry in their thinking. They see the company troll them over and over again, KNOW that they have a tendency to troll, and then allow themselves to get trolled again.

They don't realize that the WWE WANTS them pissed off because any emotional reaction is better than the fans being apathetic about it. If Bryan were a face champion right now (BEFORE 'Mania), you can say what you want but I'm pretty sure that people would be bored with it...the same way people started getting a bit bored with Punk as a face champion before he got to heel up & spar with Ryback and the Rock. The matches were fine, but there weren't many obstacles for us to get excited about. Didn't he face Ziggler at a PPV? He and Jericho had a classic, but I don't think anyone felt like Jericho was taking the strap.

The only interesting feud where we thought he could actually lose the belt was when he was beefing with Ryback...and they did Ryback the same way they did Reigns at the Rumble: built him up, kept him strong, and teased a future feud.

They're trying to get this D-Bry shyt to boil over before they take it off the stove and serve it. They've got to build up good adversaries for him to play with in the meantime so that they don't give him the belt with nothing to do. I think they're trying to build it up so that we loathe Batista and we'll be foaming at the mouth once Bryan gets a shot at him (for the belt or for contendership). After that, you'll get the rise of Reigns and so on. Folks need to think beyond 'Mania moments. We're only in January.

People just feel uncomfortable, so they complain...

...and I want Sting/Taker...as long as no t-shirts are involved.:scusthov:

"Stream team :blessed:.......first row :blessed:......... why is this happening to Bryan? :to: "
Didn't even build him up as a legit threat. Just ran off his reactions then had The Shield beat him down every week and HHH talk completely down to him like he was a nothing. Not to mention 3 different title bait and switches while simultaneously building up Big Show to be the real credible threat. And we seen that was worse. And through all that a lot of people here actually did buy the first couple of shows. But after a while you see where it's going and now were here where shows get hijacked and plans have to be changed.

Most people aren't okay with dropping 50-60 bucks to "make a difference," evident by PPV trending downward for years and the WWE giving it away for 10 bucks a month now. Now that I'll be paying for the shows in a couple of weeks, will my gripes suddenly be more valid? The shows I've been to, the merchandise I've copped and the DVDs I've picked up didn't warrant a voice? People closed their wallets in record numbers for Resthold Randy and that didn't stop him from being pushed.

Crying online isnt showing support, friend.

I tend to just think they're posts. Just like everybody else here makes. But I know it's "crying" when its something you don't agree with.

Oh, you definitely care. Or else you wouldn't be "crying online." And you're not really pointing out anything. Because like I said, while I bashed Punk for tanking the ratings, I never used them as a reason to justify him never getting a shot.
