Peterborough professional wrestler Bobby Roode has yet to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Despite appearing on WWE’s NXT Takeover April 1 in Dallas, Roode told The Examiner Friday that ending up in the world’s largest wrestling organization isn’t a done deal at this time.
“I’m not officially signed yet,” said Roode. “The Internet has blown up over it, and I mean I’m close, but I don’t want to spoil anything or ruin anything. I want to wait until it’s official. I don’t want to jinx anything either.”
Roode is mostly known for his time in TNA Wrestling, where he was a two-time world heavyweight and five-time tag team champion. He has the longest heavyweight title reign in the company’s history. He left TNA last month after 12 years and became a free agent.
A few other long-time TNA Wrestling veterans, who left the company, have officially signed contracts with WWE, including A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries. Aries and Samoa Joe have remained in NXT, while Styles went directly to the company’s flagship brands Raw and Smackdown.
Roode last appeared on WWE television in 2003, when he made numerous appearances as an enhancement wrestler.
